A Grand Cru Quality Pommard Monopole from 2016. Shipment three!

Coste Caumartin Boucherottes unprecedented header
96 Points from Gilbert and Gaillard. I told you it was seriously good!
We're getting some more!

I rarely order a wine twice but this is a first - a third order for this monumentally good Pommard from the glorious 2016 vintage.
Our second shipment sold out before it arrived in April and after some discussion the domaine has agreed to supply me with a little from their reserve stocks. I am delighted!
This was my wine of the year. Each time I taste it I cannot believe how good it is.
It is a brilliant wine at a fantastic price. If you have some in your cellar taste it. Then reorder before it all goes. If you don't have any make sure you purchase some this time. Wines this good are seldom available at a reasonable price.
The background....

On a site dating back to the time of the Great Dukes of Burgundy Domaine Coste-Caumartin has a rich history. The buildings go back to 1610 and the well in the forecourt (which appears on their label) is dated 1641 - possibly the year that building was completed.

The Coste-Caumartin family "moved-in" in 1793 at the height of the French Revolution. Over the centuries the domaine has expanded to 12 hectares with its major holdings in the commune of Pommard.

The domaine's finest vineyard is their monopole Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Boucherottes. It has been in the family since 1908. The vineyard has always been a jewel of the village and 500 years ago it was part of the Royal Domain. This vineyard lies on the Beaune border and is largely surrounded by Pommard 1er Cru Les Petits Epenots to the south and Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches to the north. It is, in effect, a clos of Petits Epenots.

Both Les Epenots and Les Rugiens have applied to the INAO for elevation to Grand Cru status. You can read more here.

We offer this shipment at our original Pre Arrival Price! It is a bargain.

Coste-Caumartin Boucherottes label Gilbert and Gaillard: A garnet color with ruby highlights. Racy nose, floral presence with greedy Morello cherry. The palate seduces by its scale, its elegance, its fullness. One praises to the skies for its fruit, its floral dimension, its generous tannic finish. A 2016 with an entire character. 96 Points (Huge!)

Darren Harris:
Deep purple-red. Intense nose of cool black fruits - mostly cherries - and huge minerality. Refined and cool. Tight, very tight. The super low cropping adds layer upon layer on a textured palate culminating in an amazing peacock's tail and a very long stony finish. The silky tannins are extremely fine and coated by the velvety fruit. The domaine sets out to make this wine as a Grand Cru with extremely low cropping and beautiful handling. They succeed admirably. I don't think I have ever tasted a Pommard quite like this. It reminds me of a theoretical blend of Corton Clos du Roi, Clos Vougeot and Clos de la Roche with each coming to the fore as the wine sits in the glass. It is a sensual wine and is very special indeed. Forget your pre-conceived idea of Pommard. This is a super wine of Grand Cru quality. Awesome!

Collet Clos label

Domaine Jean Collet Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru 2016

Few would argue that Les Clos is Chablis' top vineyard.
We have a small quantity of the 2016 from Domaine Jean Collet in stock.

Tim Atkin MW: There are only 1,000 bottles from this 0.16-hectare parcel, located in the lower part of Les Clos, and that in a year when frost spared the Collets. Fermented and aged in one-yearold
oak, it's mealy, complex and subtly wooded, with plenty of dry extract and weight and
bracing acidity. 2020-28
