Grand Cru Chablis from the Outstanding 2014 Vintage

Moutard-Diligent was founded in 2004. In a short space of years they have gathered a strong following for their Chablis.

Today we are delighted to offer a selection of Grand Cru Chablis from the outstanding 2014 vintage. 2014 is a vintage all white wine lovers should have in their cellar.

Most of the wines are available in bottle and magnum, a rare treat for Chablis lovers.

The wines are presented in large, heavy bottles with wax capsules. They are certainly impressive both to view and taste.
moutard-diligent_clos Moutard-Diligent Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru 2014
750ml $127.95
1500ml MAGNUM $275.00
48 bottles and 8 Magnums available

Gary Walsh - The Wine Front: Great cru in a top vintage. Green olive, sea shells, cream, preserved lemon. Powerful, intense flavour, but stony and fine in acidity, sort of juicy, while keeping its classic lean, line and length profile. Runs crunchy and tight on a long finish. Tidy.
96 Points
moutard-diligent_vaudesir Moutard-Diligent Chablis Vaudesir Grand Cru 2014
750ml $122.95
1500ml MAGNUM $265.00
18 bottles and 12 Magnums available

Gary Walsh - The Wine Front: White peach, honey and mixed citrus, a little smoke and spice, white bread and caraway seed. Medium-bodied, gloss and richness of fruit, good cut of acidity and gently flinty texture, honey and bread on the finish. Showing some bottle age complexity already, but a good and interesting wine. 93 Points

moutard-diligent_blanchot Moutard-Diligent Chablis Blanchot Grand Cru 2014
750ml $122.95
1500ml MAGNUM $265.00
24 bottles and 12 Magnums available

Gary Walsh - The Wine Front: Honey coloured, with a slight honey aromatic, cool mint, white chocolate, a touch of smoke, orange rind and pear. It has some flesh, but offers high-tensile acidity though its core, softened gently by bottle age, savoury hessian and sour yoghourt, and closes crisp and firm, a lemony tang and cheese rind flavour in its wake.
94 Points

Caillou 1964
Château Caillou Sauternes 1964
2 bottles left
It's hard to appreciate that wines made in 1964 are now 55 years old !

We have purchased the outstanding case of Château Caillou Sauternes 1964 shown above. We have 2 bottles left and if you are interested in an old Sauternes or if 1964 is your birthyear you could do worse than these superb bottles.

They are priced at $395.00 a bottle - certainly not a lot for a wine of this age.

Some background on the Château...

While Chateau Caillou enjoys a long history in the Sauternes appellation, the modern era for the property begins in 1909 when the estate was purchased by the Ballan family from the Sarraute family. The estate is still the property of the Ballan family today. The property is managed by Marie Josee Pierre, a direct descendant of the Ballan family.
Chateau Caillou was part of the original 1855 Classification. In fact, it was so well thought of at the time, they were awarded the classification of Premiere Cru Classe.

The 12.9 hectare Sauternes vineyard of Chateau Caillou is planted to 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. The terroir of this property is a combination of gravel, clay and limestone soils with large stones, which is where the estate takes its name from. The vines are close to 40 years of age and are planted with a vine density of 5,500 vines per hectare. The vineyard is in a good location, on the peak of a sloping hill. The vineyards are situated next to some very good neighbors, most notably Chateau Climens and Chateau de Myrat.

$395.00 a bottle
