Information on Chateau de la Maltroye's 2011 White Burgundies have just been received. Stephen Tanzer says of the 2011 vintage in general "The better 2011s have a deliciousness and open-knit early appeal that cannot be denied. In addition to their accessible and often suave textures, they offer the floral and mineral qualities that are often cooked out of the chardonnay grapes in the hot years. The best of them will be alluring wines...". 2011 is a vintage of style and pleasure which can be consumed before your 2010 whites.
Prices for the 2011's remain much the same as last year, except for the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Dent de Chien. This Grand Cru quality wine has been has been receiving glorious reviews in recent vintages and we see another substantial price rise from the domaine in 2011. That said, the wine is always a stunner and what is in the bottle is well worth the price.
Remember that part of La Dent de Chien was re-classified as Montrachet in the 1930's. It is said that politics played a part in some remaining 1er Cru. So very French!
We also have some of the 2011 Batard-Montrachet available. There were two barrels in 2011 - so a maximum of 600 bottles for the world!
You can view all of the wines and read Stephen Tanzer's barrel tasting notes on our website by clicking here.
Stocks of the Dent de Chien and Batard-Montrachet are limited so please act quickly.
Make sure you don't miss the Grandes Ruchottes and La Romanee as they are always terrific wines and are well priced.
You may order on our website or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or phone. Wines will be delivered early 2013 (which is not that far away!).
