In December 2010 Thibault Morey was awarded the prestigious "Discovery of the Year" award by Burgundy magazine Bourgogne d'Aujourd'hui (Burgundy Today). It was serious recognition of the quality of the wines produced by this family owned domaine in Chassagne-Montrachet.
The domaine owns a lovely selection of vineyards in Chassagne including Batard-Montrachet and a roll call of the top Premier Crus. They also produce Chassagne-Montrachet Villages and Bourgogne Chardonnay with the same care and attention to detail. The house style is elegant and mineral, detailed and persistent. The oak is handled carefully to provide structure and complexity.
As you would expect in 2010 the wines really sing.
With the weather warming white wines really come into their own, especially those that are refreshing and lively.
For TODAY ONLY we offer a fantastic 30% discount on Morey-Coffinet's 2010 Bourgogne and Chassagne-Montrachet. These wines are usually fine value by Burgundy standards but with the extra 30% they are incredible buying.
Bourgogne Blanc 2010
Special Today $24.50
Clean, bright and crisp - showing all the hallmarks of this great vintage. Flavoursome but not rustic or fat. At $24.50 this would make a wonderful house wine. Cheaper than many Australian Chardonnays.
Special Today $43.75
I probably don't need to point out that our special price for this wine is very similar to many Bourgogne blancs from other makers. White flowers, pears, intense and very vibrant. The wine is a blend of Les Houilleres (just below Batard-Montrachet) and Les Chaumes (high on the Grande Montagne). I would not be at all surprised if there is also a little Premier Cru material in the 2010. Classic white Burgundy for a song! This has to be the cheapest 2010 Chassagne-Montrachet in the country! Put a case in the cellar, you can't go wrong.
