Today we have added many new reviews for the 2017's and they continue the form that has seen Bichot win International Wine Maker of the Year several times.

Frantin Malconsorts Label
James Suckling Tasting Report:
A fragrant and complex Vosne-Romanée with deep black-cherry and floral notes on the nose. Then comes the rich and very elegant palate, the tannins almost completely masked by the fruit, until you reach the very powerful yet polished finish. 94 Points

Jasper Morris MW:
Dense purple colour, the nose is much stricter than the Amoureuses but just as tense. If anything there is greater concentration here but the wine is shaped differently, with a firmer stricter structure at the back, through the fruit flows over the tannins. There is just enough acidity. 93 Points
Bill Nanson "The Burgundy Report"
1.75 ha from 6 sandier parts and lower down heavier soil - the bottom left which is more sandy and the rest which is more clay - there can be 3 days difference in maturity between these two sectors - 'clearly different wines too, the lower part more massive less complex.' The only area in 2017 where they did a green harvest.
Hmm - not a big nose today, but one with a lot of inviting, faintly spiced complexity - true to its roots. Fuller, more depth, more complexity - certainly more structural vs the Amoureuses, but also much more complex - accessibly complex - today. Super finishing depth of flavour. Ooh that's good! - Excellent wine.
Albert Bichot Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2017
Landed Price $799.00
Pre Arrival Price $679.00

Bichot Amoureuses Label
Decanter Magazine:
Alain Serveau, Bichot's long-term winemaker, owns this parcel (lucky man) and sells the grapes to his employer, so it's almost a domaine wine. It's comparatively powerful for Les Amoureuses, with a touch of subtle reduction in barrel. Sappy, grippy and well-defined, it displays rose petal and potpourri scents, spicy berry fruit flavours, and a long, harmonious finish. (Drink between 2024-2030). 95 Points

Jasper Morris MW:
Lovely rich purple and the nose is sumptuous too, absolutely doing what Amoureuses should. There is a fine silky texture, all the red fruits together, just ripe enough, and with all the hoped for succulence and superb length. 94 Points

Bill Nanson "The Burgundy Report"
This nose isn't quite ready - it often isn't when I taste - it certainly has width and volume - it's not shy, but there a reductive aspect today. In the mouth there's clearly extra volume and depth of flavour vs the last wines, but also a touch of reduction. Much to look forward to but not the best time to taste - except, maybe, the finish, which is very impressive.

Albert Bichot Clos-de-la-Roche Grand Cru 2017
Landed Price $625.00
Pre Arrival Price $531.00

Bichot Roche Label
Jasper Morris MW:
Dense red purple. The nose is discreet, but the quality of the fruit is superb on the palate, quite vibrant while respecting the raw silk and blue fruit style of the appellation. Very good fruit acid balance. Excellent aftertaste both in fruit quality and persistence. 94 Points

Bill Nanson "The Burgundy Report":
Ooh - now that's very nice - a nose that's very open, forward, faintly spiced and fresh - oh-so inviting too! Supple, depth of fresh flavour - flavour that grows in intensity, vibrant flavour - this is always a cuvée that shows well here - no different in 2017 - it's excellent!

Albert Bichot Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Chabiots 2017
Landed Price $245.00
Pre Arrival Price $208.00

Bichot Chabiots Label
Vinous Media - Neal Martin:
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Chabiots 1er Cru has a wonderful, expressive red cherry and crushed strawberry nose with beguiling floral aromas. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannin, finely pitched acidity and a long, poised, silky-smooth finish. A great Chambolle from winemaker Alain Serveau. (Drink between 2022-2034). 92-94 Points

James Suckling Tasting Report:
Great nose of raspberries with just a whiff of caramel and toasty oak. A graceful wine that wraps itself gently around you and caresses you. Long finish with delicate sweetness, which makes it drinkable on release. 92 Points

Bill Nanson "The Burgundy Report":
Continuity of Musigny above Amoureuses.
Hmm - a very different nose a sort of melting density of aroma. Silky but intense, a flavour that slowly fills all the spaces in your mouth - today touched by oak but that will fade. A wine that's more about shape and texture than depth of flavour today - clearly concentrated though. Hard to judge today - it's clearly a super wine, but I'm unsure of the direction it will take. Worth buying a few bottles to keep tabs!

Albert Bichot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux-St-Jacques 2017
Landed Price $299.95
Pre Arrival Price $254.50

Bichot Lavaux Label
The restrained nose possesses a marked floral character that adds a bit of elegance to the overtly spicy and sauvage-inflected nose of earth, black cherry liqueur and forest floor scents. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the racy, intense and stony broad-shouldered flavors where the overtly mineral-inflected finale is also distinctly backward, austere and very firmly structured. This too is going to require extended cellaring to resolve the supporting tannins. (Drink starting 2032). 90-93 Points

Bill Nanson "The Burgundy Report":
This nose is just a little tighter than that of the Malconsorts, but very deep and attractive - and there doesn't seem to be any reduction driving that. Mouth-filling volume, depth of flavour - complexity, energy - yes! Great finishing - bravo! The second vintage in a row that I find this bests the Malconsorts, today at least.
Domaine du Clos Frantin Chambertin Grand Cru 2017
Landed Price $1095.00
Pre Arrival Price $930.00

Jancis Robinson:
35% whole-bunch fermented. Aged in oak barrels (50% new) for 16 months. Cask sample. Awesome fruit definition, wonderful tension between vivid acidity and finely balanced tannins, and impeccable clarity of flavour. Has the je ne sais quoi of grand cru. A treasure. (RH) (Drink between 2020-2040). 18.5/20

Bill Nanson "The Burgundy Report":
Lots of colour. Lots of high-toned aromatic volume - some oak here - narrowing, more tight below. Full, supple, fresh and layered, growing in stature over the palate. It's clearly serious wine, with a more serious side - great wine though - touched by some late arriving tannin. Modest intensity but very long finishing...

Domaine du Clos Frantin Echezeaux Grand Cru 2017
Landed Price $525.00
Pre Arrival Price $446.00

Frantin Echezeaux
James Suckling Tasting Report:
A deep and really complex Echezeaux with a ton of forest berries, very polished tannins and wonderful sweetness that grows at the back of the palate. Very long and complex finish with a lot of herbal and mineral complexity. Very long finish. This will be delicious from release, but has a great future ahead of it. 96 Points
