Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos des Issarts Monopole 2016
$168.50
Vinous, Stephen Tanzer: (destemmed): Good dark red. Captivating perfume of raspberry, spices, crushed stone and red licorice. Intensely flavored and penetrating, boasting terrific energy
and lift to its flavors of red berries, minerals and flowers. Very concentrated and dense but conveys a weightless impression.
The palate-saturating finish offers spectacular rising perfume. A wine from very stony soil: I'm sure I would have picked it blind as coming from Chambolle-Musigny. 93-95 Points
Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées 2016
$217.00
Vinous, Stephen Tanzer:
(more than 50% of the potential crop was lost to frost; vinified in a new 3.5-hectoliter barrel with 50% whole clusters; one-third of these vines were planted in 2010): Bright, saturated medium red. Knockout perfume of cranberry, pomegranate, raspberry and white pepper. Vividly highpitched and fine-grained in the mouth, with its penetrating, floral red fruit flavors accented by pungent crushed stone minerality. Delivers outstanding intensity without weight, not to mention superb inner-mouth tension and saline complexity. This fabulously perfumed wine finishes with terrific rising length. This wine may not have the volume or power of the Combe d'Orveau but I suspect it will dance on its sibling's grave. 93-95 Points
Corton Clos Des Cortons Monopole Grand Cru 2016
$365.00
Vinous, Stephen Tanzer:
Bright ruby. Fruit-driven aromas of crushed black cherry and dark raspberry convey outstanding pungent lift. Incredibly concentrated, sappy and primary, conveying outstanding juicy purity and compelling thickness to its dark fruit and violet flavors. At once hugely powerful and utterly
seamless, this wine finishes with great spicy length and lift. A real essence of Burgundy--and likely to evolve gracefully for 25 years or more. 95-98 Points
Latricieres Chambertin Grand Cru 2016
$409.00
Burghound: Here too the wood treatment is subtle yet just prominent enough to warrant pointing out on the cool, pure and notably more sauvage nose of both red and dark wild berry and earth scents. There is a really lovely sense of underlying tension suffusing the much more mineral-driven middle weight flavors that are not quite as rich but notably more precise on the chiseled and wonderfully refined finish. Textbook.
(Drink starting 2031). 93-95 Points
Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru 2016
$459.00
Vinous, Stephen Tanzer:
Dark red with ruby highlights. Complex, inviting aromas of black raspberry, peony, toast, smoke and game. Compellingly rich, creamy wine with a captivating mixture of dark berries, flowers and toasty oak. Maintains its thickness and body straight through to the very ripe, long, suavely tannic finish. A beauty. 93-95 Points
Chambertin Clos De Bèze Grand Cru 2016
$597.00
Vinous, Stephen Tanzer:
Bright, dark red-ruby. Knockout sappy nose combines black raspberry, crushed rock and white pepper. Boasts remarkable intensity and clarity--not to mention class--to its
flavors of raspberry, spices and pungent minerals. Wonderfully sappy and dense but almost magically light on its feet. This sharply delineated wine finishes with ineffable rising perfume and outstanding length. This wine manages to combine the best traits of Faiveley's other Gevrey grand crus--not to mention the finest qualities of the 2016 vintage in an utterly weightless package. 94-97 Points
