Introducing Domaine Bernard Millot. Two 2016 Premier Crus from Meursault at nice prices

Millot 2016 Meursault Header
Two 1er Cru Meursault from 2016 at very reasonable prices
One of my discoveries during my last trip to Burgundy was Domaine Bernard Millot. Located in Meursault the domaine has just 8 hectares of vines including a lovely selection of Meursault whites.
The domaine typically produces three Premier Crus whites but in 2016, due to the frost, production was way down and only two 1er Cru Meursault were produced. The house style at Domaine Millot is fine and elegant. The wines are intense, balanced and very pure. They avoid the richness and fat of lesser domaines.

The 2016's have arrived and we have almost sold out of the Meursault Premier Crus.

Highly recommended for those who love classic White Burgundy.

Millot 1er Cru 2016 Label Darren Harris: This is a blend of the 1er Crus La Goutte d'Or with a little Les Cras (necessary due to the tiny production in 2016). Very pale colour. Aromatic nose of white fruits, citrus, flowers and minerals. Great attack on the palate with very fine acidity - quite Puligny like. Very lively in the mouth with concentrated flavours and serious length. Delightfully balanced - a classic Meursault of style and restrained power.

Millot Perrieres 2016 Label
Darren Harris: Fresh nose of white fruits, flowers and stony minerality. More tense than the 1er Cru cuvee. Pure and refined but deeply flavoured and really light on its feet as is typical of the wines from this domaine. Great acidity and freshness culminating in a long mineral driven finish. Seriously good.

And a Puligny-Montrachet at an extra special price!
Puligny-Montrachet Les Corvees 2016
Landed Price $125.95
Special $94.50 (Save 25%)

Millet Puligny label
Darren Harris: Light and bright. A nose of white flowers, pear and a little white peach. Very pure. The palate unfurls with more fruit, a serious lick of saline minerality and classic Puligny-Montrachet acidity. Fine and detailed - the 10% new oak not discernable. The lasting impression is a delightful sense of elegance and style creating a gorgeous bottle of wine. It is is very reasonably priced for the quality.

Vogue Bonnes-Mares
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 1999
5 bottles available
From a superb private cellar.
Stephen Tanzer:
Deep ruby-red. Deep, dark aromas of blueberry, violet, flowers, coffee and mocha. Superrich and chocolatey, with lovely sweetness, but currently quite closed. Has more stuffing for its tannins than the Chambolle premier cru. Finishes firm but ripe and long. 93+ Points
Burghound: Massive notes of blueberry and blackberry jam yet there is a certain austerity to the nose followed by flavors that are huge, firm, reserved and extremely dense and while there is a solid underpinning of tannin, they are wrapped in sappy velvet. The length is just flat out stunning and very powerful. This remains quite closed and while it presently does not possess the refinement of either the '02 or the '01, with time it may catch them as the underlying material is every bit as good. Consistent notes save for this most recent bottle which exhibited just a touch of finishing dryness. (Drink starting 2014). 93 Points

2016 White Burgundy
2016 is a lovely vintage for both reds and whites. The alcohol levels are moderate and both colours display fresh fruit that speaks of its terroir.

Production was very low but none-the-less we still have over 80 whites to choose from. The first of these have arrived with more to come in soon.
