Remy Roche 2006 Header
A 13 year old Grand Cru for less than the cost of current releases

John Gilman, A View from the Cellar "I had been mistakenly under the impression that the Domaine Louis Remy had ceased to
exist when Madame Lalou Bize-Leroy had purchased the lion's share of their vineyards and cellar stocks of older vintages in 1989. But apparently, Madame Chantal Remy had kept a slice
of a few vineyards and the rights to the name of the estate....Like a few of the old school holdouts in the Burgundy firmament of today, Madame Remy holds back her wines until they have had several years of bottle age in her cellars prior to releasing them into the
market..... From what I understand, Madame Chantal Remy retained one third of the family's vineyard parcels in the immediate aftermath of the sale to Madame Bize-Leroy."

"The Remy wines are made quite traditionally, with only one third new oak utilized for the grand crus, less for the two premier crus and the wines bottled by gravity two years after the harvest, with no fining or filtration. These are very much old school Burgundies that recall a bit the style of Jacky Truchot's wines in his heyday- decidedly lighter in color that most, delicate and perfumed, with lovely soil signatures, very good intensity of flavor and fine balances for further cellaring."

Remy Chantal There are always some great discoveries to be had in Burgundy and today I am pleased to present the Domaine Louis Remy Clos de la Roche 2006. These wines have come straight from the domaine where they have rested for a decade.

Apart from the age what makes this wine particularly attractive is the price. 2006 is a much admired vintage. Following behind the highly lauded and tannic 2005's the vintage did not receive as much attention as it deserved. But most serious drinkers of Burgundy will tell you what pleasure 2006 provides. The wines are close to reaching their drinking plateau so this offer of domaine-fresh wines should not be missed.

Today we offer the lovely Clos de la Roche at a 25% Pre Arrival Discount.

Remy Clos de la RocheThe domaine had a 0.40 hectare parcel of Clos de la Roche. Most of the vineyard holding was sold of to Domaine Leroy. It would be great to compare styles from the same vineyard!

So rich and flattering and gorgeous it would be insulting to spit this! Long and seductive - coo-er! This should have an X certificate. 18.5/20

Cheron Vougeot Label
Domaine Philippe Cheron Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2015

Darren Harris
Cheron's vines lie mid slope towards Echezeaux in the climat Baudes Hautes. The vines are very old having been planted when the land was purchased in 1934. The shallow clay-marl soils at the top and richness and minerality to the wine while the sandier soils at the bottom add a lift to the aromatics of the wine. The wine has great depth of colour. Intense nose with ripe dark fruits, a hint of new oak, a little earth. On the palate is where the wine shines. Not surprisingly it is the most complex of the tasting; there is real fruit intensity. Medium-full bodied with a gorgeous texture, almost a creaminess from the old vines. The tannins there on the finish are long and fine. This is a very stylish CV with impeccable balance.

Domaine Roblot-Marchand Echezeaux Grand Cru 2015
Last 6 bottles
Roblot-Marchand own a tiny 0.18 hectare slice in the climat Les Champs Traversins. Their neighbours include Dujac, Clos Frantin and A-F Gros. Les Champs Traversins is known finesse and elegance and Burghounds says "beautifully perfumed". With such a small holding the domaine's Echezeaux production is always tiny. For a Grand Cru from 2015 it is very well priced.
