Bichot 2016 Roche Header
An outstanding wine for the cellar

IWC Gold Medal Bichot's Clos de la Roche is a consistent big performer. The 2016 vintage follows the 2015 as a Gold Medal Winner at the International Wine Challenge.

The 2016 is a deep, rich wine, with power and concentration in spades. It is a real epic in the making.
We have 10 bottles remaining from our allocation and for next few days we offer the wine at a 25% Pre Arrival Discount rather than the usual 15%. This is a wine for the cellar.

International Wine Challenge 2018
Nose very tight with astringent, slightly green fruit tannins. Very youthful and tight like a coiled spring. Needs at least five years but will be great. Gold Medal.

Tim Atkin MW:
The Bichot teams has total control over when these grapes are picked, which makes the distinction between négociant and domaine wines comparatively slight. This is an impressive rendition of one of Morey's two Grands Crus, with one-third new oak, fine-grained tannins and ripe, textured fruit. 2022-30.

Burghound:
(from Genavrières). A highly complex and much earthier and sauvage-inflected nose offers up notes of cassis and blue pinot fruit that is nuanced by hints of smoke and spice. There is outstanding richness to the powerful, concentrated and overtly muscular broad-shouldered flavors that possess strikingly impressive persistence on the austere, backward and very firmly structured finish. This brooding but most promising effort is quite compact at present and will need plenty of time to flesh out. 2033+. 92-95 Points

Lignier Ormes 2016 7 cases header
Domaine Georges Lignier Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru Clos des Ormes 2016
Only 33 bottles left
Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru Clos des Ormes is Domaine Georges Lignier's flagship wine. The vineyard lies immediately below Clos de la Roche and it is often described as a mini version of the Grand Cru.

In winemaker (and nephew of Georges Lignier) Benoit Stahley's hands Clos des Ormes displays a multi-faceted palate combining delicacy and power. Each year we see the domaine's unique style develop further proving Burgundy does not have to be big, rich and extracted to be wonderful.

We served the 2016 at a dinner recently and every single bottle sold. We managed to persuade the domaine to give us another 7 cases. Of these we only have 33 bottles left.

Not only is the wine a delight but it is very well priced for a Premier Cru. We offer this new cache at the same Pre Arrival Price. These are the last bottles that the domaine has so don't miss out.

Darren Harris:
Nose of plums, spice, vanilla. Not particularly dark as is typical of Benoit's wines but with many layers and nuances dancing across the palate. It combines the juice of 2016 with rose, red fruits, cool stoney minerality and a lovely, fine mouthfeel. Power and grace. Long and precise with a medium firm finish.

Normally $148.50
Pre Arrival Price $126.50
