Last 27 bottles. "Gorgeously complex" Domaine Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles 201

Chevillon Robert Cailles 2013 Header utterly beautiful wine
....outstanding mid-palate concentration
....gorgeously complex
One of the highlights of our dinners with Patricia Corcia was the Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles 2013.

We all know Robert Chevillon is a fine maker but many of us (myself included) are guilty of neglecting the 2013 vintage. This was a beautifully balanced wine with wonderful poise and finesse, especially considering it comes from Nuits-St-Georges.

Both John Gilman and Burghound have picked up on the inherent qualities with Gilman suggesting drink 2023-2060 and Burghound start drinking 2023! The wine is a delight now so you have a good decade or two or three to watch it in the cellar.

Les Cailles is one of the Nuits-St-Georges 1er Crus involved in the discussionto have some vineyards elevated to Grand Cru status.

We offer this gorgeous wine at a 25% Pre Arrival Discount. It is great buying for such a higly rated wine.

John Gilman "View from the Cellar": One of the reasons I never got my act together and bought more Roncières back in the day is I always bought a lot of les Cailles- not a bad thing- and the 2013 is definitely a wine I want in my cellar! This is an utterly beautiful wine, with a fine sense of reserve today that augurs extremely well for its evolution in bottle. The stunning bouquet offers up scents of black cherries, red plums, bitter chocolate, a gorgeously complex base of soil, woodsmoke, gamebirds and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and very, very soil-driven, with a rock solid core of sappy fruit, tangy acids, laser-like focus and great length and grip on the ripely tannic finish. This is another 2013 that harkens back very strongly to the 1993 version! (Drink between 2023-2060). 94 Points

Burghound: A subtle if not invisible application of wood sets off the spicy, elegant and ultra-pure nose of layered red currant, cherry, violet and warm earth aromas. The delicious, concentrated and sleekly muscular flavors possess outstanding mid-palate concentration before terminating in a balanced and strikingly long finish. The old vine sap is very much in evidence as it pushes the otherwise firm tannins to the background and imparts a velvety feel. This should be terrific in time. (Drink starting 2025). 91-94 Points

Jancis Robinson:
Mid crimson. Lightish mildly glacé strawberry nose. Very sweet and fruity. Deceptively charming already. Tastes as though a lot of work went into making this wine so approachable. Admirably persistent. It really does fan out on the finish, which is where it shows its class. 17.5/20

Domaine A & S Vosne-Romanee 2016
Written up by
12 bottles left

I was delighted to receive the latest email from Steen Ohman,, overnight and see a write up on Domaine A S.
They were a discovery of mine earlier this year and proven very popular with our clients.
The first shipment of their first ever wine is in Australia and we have 12 bottles left to sell.
Winehog writes "New wines and new domaines are entering the world of Burgundy each year, and Arnaud et Sophie (Sirugue and Noëllat) is one of the new and exciting couples in Vosne-Romanée. They were of to a start in 2016 with one wine ... an interesting Vosne village located on border to Cros Parantoux and Les Petits Monts - indeed an excellent location.

Sophie Noëllat and Arnaud Sirugue

The couple Sophie and Arnaud comes from the two Vosne estates - Michel Noëllat and Robert Sirugue - and the joint estate Arnaud et Sophie represent the future of Vosne.

The Arnaud et Sophie plot is located just above the southern part of Cros Parantoux - on the very border to Petits Monts.

The 2017 Arnaud et Sophie, Vosne-Romanée Les Barreaux 2017 is offering a lovely depth and a fine mineral note. More mineral driven than the Sirugue Vosne-Romanee V.V. and almost with the same weight, as the vieille vigne, that is originating from the lover part of the slope near the lower part of Clos de Vougeot. As the Cros Paratoux a lovely balance between weight and detail. Stylewise a bit darker than the Sirugue cuvées .. a interesting wine.

The first vintage of the new cuvée is 2016, and I'm looking forward to see furture cuvées from Arnaud and Sophie ... congratulations on the exiting cuvée near Cros Parantoux ..."
