Something different to tickle the taste buds...

In addition to Burgundy we like to have a small range of high quality French wines from other regions.

Today we present 6 wines including two Chateauneuf-du-Papes from the exalted 2016 vintage.

All wines are available at Pre Arrival Discounts.
Domaine de la Solitude Chateauneuf de Pape Cuvee Cornelia Constanza 2016
Landed Price $175.50
Pre Arrival Price $148.95
Solitude Cornelia Constanza Label Jeb Dunnuck: Pure Grenache brought up in a mix of foudre, old barrels, and stainless steel, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cornelia Constanza is up there with the finest versions of this cuvée to date. Huge notes of cassis, kirsch liqueur, crushed flowers, and incense give way to a rich, powerful, yet graceful wine that has no hard edges and a great finish. It's orgasmic stuff and Grenache lovers shouldn't miss it! 98 Points

Les Vignerons Parisiens Turbigo Cinsault 2017
Landed Price $42.95
Pre Arrival Price $31.95

Turbigo label
Jancis Robinson:
Mid purple-rimmed cherry red. So vibrant on the nose: dusty, nervy red-cherry fruit with a touch of cranberry zing, small wild red berries. On the palate, still all that energy and vitality but balanced and made more serious by the fine chalky tannins. Bone dry and yet full of fruit. The juiciness of the fruit and serious firmness to the texture - a lot of paper-fine tannins that give it rocky mineral character - marry beautifully. I'd give this at least another year in bottle but I am equally sure it will age for a decade or more. Impressive length. Shows the great potential of this variety when taken seriously. 17/20

Domaine Pertuisane Le Nain Violet 2016
Landed Price $60.00
Pre Arrival Price $45.00

Pertuisane Nain Violet label Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate: I was able to taste the 2016 IGP Cotes Catalanes Le Nain Violet from multiple barrels, and while 2016 was a more difficult vintage than 2015, you wouldn't know it by tasting this cuvee. All of the samples have a deep and rich color, terrific aromatics, notable purity and a supple, sexy, full-bodied style that's going to drink nicely right out of the gate. 92-95 Points
Le Clos du Caillou Chateauneuf-du-Pape Les Quartz 2016
Landed Price $158.95
Pre Arrival Price $134.95

Caillou Chateauneuf Quartz Jeb Dunnuck: A blockbuster in the making is the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape les Quartz, which is 100% Grenache from the les Cassanets lieu-dit just beside the estate. Garrigue, kirsch, black raspberries, spice, and incense notes all literally soar from the glass of this sensational red. With full-bodied richness, incredible purity, ultra-fine tannin, and a killer finish, it's going to be one of the wines of the vintage. 96-99 Points

Les Darons Languedoc rouge 2015
Case of 12 Bottles Landed Price $390.00
Pre Arrival Price $279.00

Darons label
Jeb Dunnuck - eRobert Parker:
What looks like another great vintage here, the 2015 AOP Languedoc les Darons is made from 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5% Carignan; grapes were completely destemmed, and fermented and aged all in concrete tanks. It sees absolutely no oak whatsoever. This medium to full-bodied, plump, rounded, downright sexy 2015 has lots of blueberry, violets, and jammy black cherry aromas and flavors; it has terrific purity of fruit, good acidity and an overriding sense of elegance. If it came from a more prestigious appellation in the southern Rhone, it would go for three times the price.
91-93 Points

Domaine de la Solitude Chateauneuf-du-Pape Vin de la Solitude 2016
Wooden Case of 3 Bottles Landed Price $465.00
Pre Arrival Price $395.00

Vin de la Solitude label Vinous - Josh Raynolds: (Brilliant ruby. A suave, expansive bouquet evokes fresh dark berries, candied flowers and smoky minerals, backed by a hint of peppery spices. In an elegant yet concentrated style, offering seamless black raspberry and spicecake flavors that show very good depth as well as clarity. Juicy acidity adds lift and definition to a very long, floral-accented finish framed by velvety, harmonious tannins.
93-95 Points

Arlaud Mood
A few bottles of Domaine Arlaud
Domaine Arlaud make some quality red Burgundies. We have a few bottles available.
5 bottles Domaine Arlaud Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Ruchots 2015
Landed Price $210.00
Pre Arrival Price $179.00

Les Ruchots is well sited immediately below Clos de Tart and Bonnes-Mares.

Vinous, Stephen Tanzer:
(vinified with 30% whole clusters): Bright, dark red. Lovely violet lift to the aromas of red and darker berries and chocolate. Juicy, fine-grained and penetrating if a bit youthfully unforthcoming today. Shows an almost medicinal quality and pepper and herb accents (no doubt largely from the stems) to its black cherry fruit. Terrific intensity and class here, and very long and classically dry on the finish. 92-94 Points

4 bottles Domaine Arlaud Clos Saint Denis Grand Cru 2012
Landed Price $465.00
Pre Arrival Price $395.00

Vinous, Stephen Tanzer:  (from 40-year-old vines; 30% vendange entier, with Arlaud using his best vines for this purpose, which he said are equivalent in quality to older vines in the estate's other parcels): Good bright red. Wonderfully tangy aromas of red cherry, raspberry and flowers. Urgent primary red fruit and brown spice flavors are given punch by pepper and spices. Really outstanding intensity and focus here. This taut, juicy wine finishes tight, classically dry and youthfully imploded, with a flavor of medicinal red cherry and terrific grip. Really saturates the palate and leaves the salivary glands vibrating. There are just two barrels of this juice, neither of them new.  93-95 Points
