A must-have wine for all serious Burgundy Cellars
Last few bottles direct from Albert Bichot
Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses is one of Burgundy's most desirable wines. Despite being a Premier Cru its magnificent aroma and complex, silky palate make a wine of reverence.
Les Amoureuses produces magnificent, aromatic, complex and supple wines that outperform many Grand Crus. Accordingly, it is priced like a Grand Cru. The vineyard is 5.4 hectares in size and there are not a lot of producers. Clive Coates states "This is a vineyard which, like Clos St Jacques in Gevrey-Chambertin, is regarded by most - and priced accordingly - as the equal of a grand cru.... I regularly prefer it to Bonnes-Mares. But Bonnes-Mares it is not. Les Amoureuses is really a sort of younger brother to Musigny itself: perfumed, silky-smooth, intense and soft rather than brutal and muscular, and with real finesse".
Bichot typically make just a single barrel (280-300 bottles) of this wine so it is certainly on the Rare list in any vintage!
The vineyard belongs to Alain Serveau, Bichot's head winemaker (shown at at centre with Alberic Bichot to his left). The Bichot team won Red Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine Challenge 2017. The Albert Bichot Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses also won a Gold Medal and Trophy for the Best Chambolle-Musigny at the International Wine Challenge 2017.
We have managed to coax 6 more bottles of the 2015 from Bichot. We add this to the Magnums of 2015 and bottles of 2016 already available. This is a great wine. Don't miss it!

Tim Atkin MW: The Bichot Les Amoureuses is often the best négociant bottling from this famous Premier Cru and that's certainly the case in 2015. It's a pale, refined, feline Pinot Noir with classis rose petal and peony notes, a core of red fruit sweetness and silky, palate-caressing tannins. 2020-28. 96 Points
Wine Advocate - Neal Martin: The 2015 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Amoureuses, which contains 20-25% whole bunch fruit, has a surprisingly understated bouquet when considering both the precocity of the vintage and the esteemed vineyard in question. It gently unfurls with red cherries, strawberry preserve, crushed rose petals and wet stone. This is very classy and dare I say, I might mistake it for say one of Christophe Roumier's wines. The palate is very refined with crisp acidity, shimmering red cherry and strawberry fruit, superb mineralité and great tension on the finish. Do not underestimate this Amoureuses, because I suspect it will have a long and prosperous future. 94-96 Points

Tim Atkin MW:
In one sense, this is barely a négociant wine since the grapes are purchased from Alain Serveau, Bichot's long-term winemaker. It's a wonderful expression of this famous Grand Cru in all but name, with some whole bunch sap, lacy tannins, and the kind of sweet, succulent berry fruit that drives Pinotphiles wild. 2022-30. 96 Points
