For a number of our clients great old Burgundy is the ant's pants (and I include myself amongst them). Unfortunately great old bottles are becoming harder and harder to find and prices are always increasing. Several of my sources in Burgundy have dried up.
We have recently added Domaine Doudin to our portfolio. Part of their business for over a century has been cellaring and supplying aged wines to the market. They have quite a remarkable selection of back vintages.
I have selected four wines from two exceptional early 20th century vintages for our first offer. These wines have not seen the light of day since they were bottled many, many decades ago. The condition is excellent. If you have seen a very old cellar in Burgundy you will know the bottles look like those in the background image at the top. When ordered they are removed, cleaned, labelled and prepared for shipping. The image of the 1929s is indicative of the appearance.
1929: the year of the Wall Street Crash but a great vintage across France. The grapes were exceptional, with no rot, high sugar and ample acidity. The colour is amongst the best of the century, the fruit with "rare elegance and outstanding persistance". Henri Jayer, in Burgundy Vintages 1846-2006 states "1929 is powerful and generous. Its tannins show an unfailiung sturdiness".
1934: "In Burgundy it is a rare occurance to see quality happily associated with quantity, as in 1999, 1959 and 1934." Henri Jayer used to say "The quantity did not alter the quality and the wines are still very pleasant today..." Michael Broadbent says "The best are glorious". It is another wonderful year.

Perhaps not as fashionable as Chambertin but one of the greatest ageing wines of Burgundy.

Lying alongside La Tache this is one of the great Vosne-Romanee (and thus all of Burgundy) Premier Crus.
1934 Doudet-Naudin Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Arvaux Hospices de Beaune

Pre Arrrival Price $590.00
The Hospices own just over a hectare. It is the only Hospices wine not to bear the name of a person. Beaune wines age exceptionally well.
All four wines are, not surprisingly, very limited. You can view and order them on line by clicking here. You may also order by phone or email. Please address email orders to me persoanlly email@example.com. The wines will be shipped a little later this year. Payment is required with order.
The opportunity to buy serious old wines direct from the domaine is not a common event. Don't miss this opportunity to obtain these great vintages with an impeccable provenance.
