Located alongside the Grand Crus it is universally acknowledged as the best of the Premier Crus producing a wine with an additional layer of complexity. Some say it should be elevated to Grand Cru.
Our 2016's from Jean Durup have arrived and much to my surprise we still have 4 cases left. For the next 24 hours you can buy the Montee de Tonnerre at a 15% discount - the same as our Pre Arrival Price.

Grab a case and drink it over the next decade.

Darren Harris: Classic saline Chablis nose with a little citrus and lots of minerals. The palate continues the theme with real intensity and freshness culminating in a long mineral finish. Stylish and lip smacking. Drink now until 2028 and perhaps beyond.

Thomas-Morey Batard
Domaine Thomas Morey Batard-Montrachet 2014
2 bottles available
We have just unpacked a new container. Amongst the wines were 2 bottles of Domaine Thomas Morey Batard-Montrachet 2014 that I had forgotten that I had purchased.

The Moreys are one of the major families of the village of Chassagne-Montrachet and if my memory serves me correctly Thomas Morey is the cousin of Michel Morey at Domaine Morey-Coffinet.

Both have tiny 0.1 hectare parcels of Batard-Montrachet that came from the division of the old Domaine Marc Morey.

Burghound:
A wonderfully fresh if markedly restrained nose requires considerable swirling to coax the aromas of white peach, acacia blossom and subtle notes of citrus peel to reveal themselves. There is superb concentration to the overtly muscular and powerful full-bodied flavors that are supported by a firm core of ripe acidity and stunningly good length. This presently resembles a block of liquid stone and is going to require an extended stay in a cool cellar before it arrives at its full apogee, but it should be one of the great examples of Bâtard from the 2014 vintage when it does. Bravo! (Drink starting 2024).
