Monthelie: A bastion for value Red and White Burgundy

Save 25% on some great value Red and White Burgundy. Offer includes 1er Crus at Bourgogne Prices

In the elbow between Meursault and Volnay lies the rather sleepy village of Monthelie. It is so near to its great neighbours but seldom attracts the attention of non-French drinkers.

Bouley Monthelie Clous Label Things are changing. Several vineyards in Monthelie were elevated to Premier Cru status from the 2006 vintage and now the commune is almost 30% Premier Cru.

It was somewhat by chance that during my last trip to Burgundy I tasted a good number of wines from Monthelie. I was impressed with the character and freshness of the whites and the Coche Monthelie Barbieres label depth and flavour of the reds. There is, not surprisingly, more than a little bit of Meursault in the whites and the reds often look like Volnay.

With prices for the big name communes always on the rise I see Monthelie filling a great slot for those looking for interesting, yet affordable, Burgundy at reasonable prices.

We have 7 wines from Monthelie in stock. Three are Premier Cru. All are very reasonably priced.

As a further incentive for the next week I offer the wines at a 25% discount. All of the wines are at a similar price to most generic Bourgogne. Go figure! Premier Crus start at just $54.35 a bottle.
Treat yourself to some great drinking Burgundy at not-to-be-missed prices. To view, read tasting notes and order the wine on our website click here. You may also order by email to or via phone.
