Winehog.org says "The 2015 vintage is in my view an extraordinary vintage quality wise for the reds - great wines have been made including some truly legendary wines that I believe will stand as some of the best wines made in my time."

For me the greatest wines offer a unique combination of rich generous fruit on one side, and fine transparent freshness on the other - some fantastic wines were made - wines that will stand as unicorn wines."

"This is a rich and generous vintage yet most of the wines are still very transparent, fresh and juicy in most cases - offering a lovely expression of Pinot Noir and the unique terroirs. They do strike a beautiful balance and in some cases they offer an almost heavenly combination of energetic vibrancy and intensity."

All four wines are available at Pre Arrival Prices saving you 15% on the landed prices which will come into effect next week.
Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux-St-Jacques 2015

Pre Arrival Price $199.95

Drouhin-Laroze Lavaux Label A cool site next to Clos St-Jacques. Fine boned with elegance and precision.

Tim Atkin MW: The Drouhins' parcel is in the middle of this cool, elegant Premier Cru and is a classic expression of the site. Minerally, crunchy and refreshing, with a backdrop of serious tannins, stylish aromatic oak and a core of juicy, tangy blackberry fruit. 2024-30.
95 Points.

Burghound:
(from a .3 ha parcel of vines planted in 1943). This is quite firmly reduced at present and about all that is discernible is the wood treatment. Otherwise there is outstanding punch, power and minerality to the dense medium weight flavors that brim with dry extract on the firm, balanced and serious finale that is a bit less youthfully austere than usual. 91-93 Points

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur 2015
Landed Price $182.95
Pre Arrival Price $155.50
15 bottles left
Drouhin-Laroze Clos Prieur Label Located below Mazis-Chambertin and some say with similar characteristics.
Tim Atkin MW: 93 Points.
Burghound:
Background notes of wood toast and earth easily allow the pretty, fresh and cool aromas of red and dark currant, forest floor and spice nuances to be appreciated. There is really lovely detail to the attractively textured, intense and beautifully complex medium weight flavors that deliver excellent length on the well-balanced finale. While this is presently somewhat youthfully austere, it still should drink relatively well early on. 90-93 Points
Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Au Closeau 2015
Landed Price $182.95
Pre Arrival Price $155.50

Drouhin-Laroze Closeau label A tiny premier Cru of just 0.53 hectares. Drouhin-Laroze own most of the cru and are the only domaine to bottle it.

The Fine Wine Review:
I don't believe I've ever encountered an example of this well-sited premier cru (across the road from Mazis-Chambertin, an inlet in La Perrière) other than from Drouhin-Laroze. The wine has juicy dark fruits with some crystallinity and good length. 91-95 Points
Burghound: (from 60+ year old vines). This is also exuberantly fresh and bright with its ripe but cool aromas of slightly more deeply pitched dark currant, raspberry and plenty of earth and humus nuances. There is a lovely mouth feel to the sleek and moderately muscular flavors that display more evident minerality on the saline and balanced finish that also exhibits just a hint of rusticity. This should be capable of rewarding up to a decade of cellar time. 90-92 Points
Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Craipillot 2015
Landed Price $182.95
Pre Arrival Price $155.50
15 bottles left

Located down the hill from the St-Jacques vineyards. Seldom seen.
Drouhin-Laroze Craipillot Label
Tim Atkin MW 93 Points
Burghound: An exuberantly fresh nose offers notes of red cherry and currant that are liberally laced with earth, spice and oak hints. There is once again good vibrancy to the generously proportioned and fleshy medium-bodied flavors that display a mild touch of rusticity on the balanced finish. Overall this is finer than the En Champs but doesn't necessarily offer any better quality despite its 1er status. 89-92 Points
