Tremendous value for Vosne-Romanee!
We have been importing the wines of Domaine Chevillon-Chezeaux since 2011 but it wasn't until last year that I realized Philippe made a Vosne-Romanee.
His vines are all in the lieu-dit La Croix Blanche and when I asked why he didn't put the vineyard name on the label Philippe said the name doesn't sound that good. Well it rings bells for me!
Wine of the Day The 2015 Vosne-Romanee arrives next month and over the weekend we received details of the 2016.
The domaine suffered terribly due to the frost with production down an average of 50%. Some appellations were affected 70%. This has meant a severely reduced allocation of all wines from 2016.
We have exactly half the amount of Vosne-Romanee to sell in 2016 compared to our 2015 allocation. It is not enough!
At $89.95 a bottle it is still very reasonably priced. In fact I see quite a bit of generic Bourgogne creeping up towards that level.
You decide - do you want to rejoice through a case of Vosne-Romanee or stick with Bourgogne? I know what I'd do!
Needless to say, this is my Wine of the Day!
