Jadot in 1962 and the assumption of his duties by his long time lieutenant, Andre Gagey, as director.  In 1970, Gagey took on a young winemaker, Jacques Lardière, as his assistant. Jacques eventually became one of the finest crafters of premium Pinot Noir...ever.
In 2009 the winery celebrated their 150th Anniversary, and to mark the occasion they created a special wine, the Louis Jadot Beaune Premier Cru 150th Anniversary 2009, a deliberate blend of specific top parcels from among all of Jadot's Beaune Premier Cru vineyards. It saw the same elevage as the Grand Crus, including an additional six months in a combination of new and used oak, and was also held back for an additional year.   It was a delicious and defining effort and we sold everything we could get our grubby retailer hands on.  It was also put together entirely under the auspices of Jacques, who had been there nearly forty years by then and had been instrumental in defining the 'enlightened traditional' style of Jadot's wines.
Apparently Jadot was pretty pleased with that 2009, as was the press. Antonio Galloni said of the 2009, "I think it is safe to say Jadot hit it out the park with this effort...94 points."  All good, though the intent was to do this as a 'one-timer' as the historic timing and the vintage caused that 2009 '150th' to be conceived.
So in great vintages since Jadot has recreated their special Anniversary Premier Cru. We offer their 2015 release, a selection of 20 Jadot vineyards within the Beaune appellation: Les Clos des Ursules, Les Boucherottes, Les Pertuisots, Les Theurons, Les Avaux, Les Aigrots, Les Cents Vignes, Les Greves, Les Perrieres, Les Coucherais, Les Tuvilains, Les Chouacheux, Les Montrevenots, Les Sizies, Aux Cras, Les Vignes Franches, Les Bressandes, Les Belissands, Les Reversees and Les Toussaints - all of which are noted on the label. Made with traditional Burgundy winemaking methods, the wine was aged on the lees in 33% new French oak barrels for 18 months. This exceptional cuvée has the potential to age for 30 years or more.
Burghound said of the 2012 "A subtle touch of wood sets off ripe and relatively elegant notes of earth, dark cherry and spice. The mid-palate is dense, serious and powerful with plenty of mouth coating sap that helps to buffer the very firm tannic spine on the moderately austere, backward and built-to-age finale. While this is presently backward it should be approachable after 6 to 8 years of bottle age though note that it should live for a very long time. For readers having a child or grandchild in 2012 this would be a good choice to buy in quantity at a price that won't break the bank. A Sweet Spot Wine. 92 Points". The wines of Beaune are well known for their ability to age for decades.

Drouhin-Laroze Latricieres

97-Point Drouhin-Laroze Latricieres-Chambertin 2015
9 bottles available
Prices for Grand Cru Burgundy continue to rise at almost alarming rates. With some big name properties changing hands for astronomical sums I dread to think what the future will bring.
However, there are still a few bargains out there.
Domaine Drouhin-Laroze are fortunate to have serious Grand Cru holdings and now that the younger generation are in contol quality has soared.
Friday evening I secured a case of the domaine's Latricieres-Chambertin 2015. It is generally my favourite wine at the domaine combining elegance and depth of flavour. It is always a textured and aromatic wine. Tim Atkin MW is also a big fan....
Tim Atkin MW:
Latricières is the coolest Grand Cru site in Gevrey, affected by breezes from the combe and the early shadows of the forest, and it shows in the wine. Retaining good acidity and zip in the warm 2015 vintage, this is subtle, refined and saline with a mineral frisson. 2025-35. 97 Points
