Les Malconsorts is an exceptional 1er Cru. Being located alongside La Tache and less than 400 metres from Romanee-Conti it comes as no surprise. Domaine du Clos Frantin owns a substantial 1.76 ha parcel with a vine age of around 40 years. Jasper Morris MW says "Aux Malconsorts was first taken out of scrubland and planted with vines in 1610, relatively late for this part of the Cote. Nonetheless it is an exceptional vineyard, one of my three favourite premier crus along with Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses and Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St-Jacques."
It is one of our best selling wines every year.
We are delighted to present the 2016 vintage en magnum. There are only 24 Magnums for Australia and we have already sold 12 of these.

Tim Atkin MW:The Bichot holdings run to 1.75 hectares and cover both the upper and lower parts of the Premier Cru. This is a sturdy, almost austere expression of the site with serious tannins, dense, chewy black fruits and a touch of mint. Very well made, but needs considerable time in bottle. 2028-38. 94 Points

Jasper Morris MW:
Significantly rich deep purple. A wonderful richness of flavour sweeps across the palate. It is still held in check a bit by the wood. A solid, rich, firm wine at the finish, with impressive density. 94 Points
Burghound:
(from a whopping 1.75 ha parcel). A relatively deeply pitched nose offers plenty of both floral and spice elements along with notes of plum, dark cherry and a touch of Asian-style tea. As is usually the case there is excellent volume and a taut muscularity to the sappy broad-shouldered flavors that flash superb depth and persistence. Note well though that this classic example is definitely built-to-age and is going to need at least most of a decade to be approachable. Recommended. SWEET SPOT WINE 2031+. 92-94 Points

Of course we also have 750ml bottles available. Click here to view them both on line. Orders may also be placed to tracey@grandmillesime.com.au or phone (03) 9326 5737.

Aged Burg Dinner Header 2

Aged Red Burgundy Dinner 1934-1969
1 seat left
Come and join us for what promises to be a very exciting dinner.

This dinner features 16 bottles of aged Burgundy. The youngest vintage is 1969 - hard to believe it will be 50 years old next year. There are no fewer than six 1959's - one of my all-time favourite vintages - and a host of other wines.

I have created 4 brackets - Nuits-St-Georges, Corton, Clos Vougeot and Grand Cru Gevrey-Chambertin. They are all communes with the ability to cellar for extended periods. Comparing wines in each bracket should be a fascinating exercise.

The dinner will be at ESP (Estelle by Scott Picket). The restaurant has 2 Chef's Hats in the Good Food Guide 2018. Scott's food is always exciting and will match the wines brilliantly.

With 12 Grand Crus from 1934-1966 in the lineup this will be a memorable dinner and tasting for those curious about serious aged Burgundy.
Date: Tuesday 27 February 2018
Venue: ESP by Scott Pickett, 245 High St, Northcote 3070
Time: 7pm
Cost: $1295.00 per person
