Premier Cru Puligny-Montrachet at under $100 a bottle!
Last chance

When last in Burgundy I arranged for one of my suppliers to assemble a batch of interesting Burgundy samples for tasting - 31 bottles arrived!
First cab off the rank was a 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru from Domaine de la Choupette.
Frost was big problem in 2016 and you may have read how crops in Montrachet were reduced so much that seven major producers including DRC, Lafon and Leflaive combined forces to produce just two barrels from this prestigious site.
This wine from the Premier Cru Les Chalumaux is, considering the general shortfall in production in 2016, absolutely unbelievable value. Most Puligny Premier Crus will cost you around $200.00 a bottle. This is half the price. Where else can you buy 1er Cru Puligny for under $100.00?
Delicious drinking at a fantastic price. Last chance!

Choupette Chalumaux
Darren Harris: The Puligny Premier Cru les Chalumaux is located across the border from Meursault 1er Cru Perrieres. Pear, grapefruit, lime. Stoney, a little hazelnut and a deft touch of toasty oak. Light and airy (the name Chalumaux comes from a mediaeval wind instrument oft seen on the tapestries in the Hospices de Beaune). Classic Puligny medium weight palate typical of the vineyards from higher up on the northern end of the commune. Fine acidity to finish. Drinks well now and over the next four years.

Desaunay-Bissey 2015 Burgs Header

Last of the Desaunay-Bissey 2015's

We had an excellent response to our Desaunay-Bissey 2015 offer.

Domaine Bruno Desaunay-Bissey is a name that is familar to many Burgundy drinkers in Australia.

The family own parcels of very old vines in and around Vosne-Romanee. Since 2007 Bruno uses no herbicides or pesticides, all the soil being tilled. Bruno's winemaking is very terroir-expressive, doing short pre-fermentation maceration, using indigenous yeasts, and not too much extraction. Barrel-aging is about 1/3 new except for more with the Grands Crus. The wines are neither fined nor filtered. The result is beautifully balanced, perfumed, textured, complex, lingering Burgundies.

The domaine does not seek the opinion of critics so there are few reviews on the internet. However, my impression is that the wines are quite elegant with the texture that only old vines can add.

The following are still available:

6 bottles of Chambolle-Musigny Combe d'Orveaux
10 bottles of Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Rouges
4 bottles of Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaux-Monts
8 bottles Echezeaux Grand Cru

All wines are excellent value, especially at our Special Pre Arrival Discount of 30% (ends next week).
