Philippe Drouhin's grandparents were wise. Despite hard times in the wine business they made sure to invest in prime land on the Côte de Nuits. Thanks to them, 42 per cent of today's Domaine Drouhin-Laroze is grand cru vineyards, from Chambertin Clos de Bèze to Clos de Vougeot.

Today, the domaine owns a huge 1.5 hectares of Clos de Beze and like many producers the young generation has worked miracles here.

The 2016 Chambertin Clos de Beze is receiving rave reviews. Very old vines, a classic vintage and wine-making nous have combined to create a show-stopper.
Be quick if you wish to secure some of this fantastic Grand Cru.

TIm Atkin MW:
One of the greatest wines to emerge from this difficult vintage, the Drouhins' Clos de Bèze comes from a 1.5-hectare parcel that was planted in 1938. It's the kind of red Burgundy that you fantasise about owning and drinking: fragrant, polished and very fine with chalky freshness and layers of liquorice and black cherry. 2026-40. 98 Points

Wine Advocate - Neal Martin: The 2016 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru was made from two cuvées, one destemmed and the other not, so that there is around 30% whole bunch. It has a very well-defined bouquet with outstanding tension and focus. The palate is pure and silky smooth, more red fruit than black, very harmonious with very well-integrated new oak (80%). This is the best that the domaine has ever made. Period. Chapeau Nicolas and Caroline. 96-98 Points

(from a parcel of 1.5 ha of vines planted in 1949). Reduction and wood dominate the wood today. Otherwise the palate impression confirms that there is plenty of volume to the rich and very concentrated large-bodied flavors where the supporting tannins are buried beneath an impressive reserve of dry extract that carries over to the mineralinflected, long, linear and powerful finish. This is clearly built-to-age and will need at least some cellar time first. 2031+. 92-95 Points

More Highly rated Chambertin Clos de Beze at appealing prices
Domaine Pierre Gelin is the leading wine producer in the small village of Fixin (pronounced "Fees-an"). The family domaine was founded in 1925 by Pierre Gelin and is today in the hands of Pierre's grandson, Pierre-Emmanuel. Pierre-Emmanuel farms organically and works to minimize the impact on the environment in both vineyard and cellar.

The domaine has a policy of only releasing their top wines 4 years after the year of the vintage. This ensures what is in the bottle has settled and shows at its best. The latest release is 2014.

In addition to 2014 we also have 2012 and 2013 available.

All three vintages have received excellent reviews.

To introduce the wines to Australia Domaine Gelin has made available three vintages of their very highly rated Chambertin Clos de Beze. We're doing our part too by increasing the Pre Arrival Discount from 15% to 25%.

Whilst Chambertin Clos de Beze is never cheap these highly rated wines are very well priced and should find a place in all serious cellar.

All 3 Vintages have a Pre Arrival Price of

$423.50 per bottle
