Darren Harris:  Ampeau Perrieres Label Beautiful pale color. A whisp of sulphide on the nose! Nuts, brown butter, minerals galore: elegant and fresh, in fact tightly wound, with a real sense of underlying power. Long and very persistent on the finish. Very stony. 1996 was considered an outstanding vintage with wonderful acidity and this wine proves the point. Perrieres is a great vineyard and at 21 years of age this wine is not yet ready (2017).
Domaine Georges Lignier Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru Clos des Ormes 2015
Landed Price $143.50
Special Pre Arrival Price $99.99 (Save 30%)
29 bottles available
Lignier Georges Ormes Label
Tim Atkin MW:
Benoît Stehly's two hectares of old vines are divided into three parts, producing a fine, subtle, beautifully defined Pinot with the graceful fruit sweetness and delicate oak that are the hallmark of the domaine's style. The acidity drives the finish of this impressive Premier Cru. 2022-30.
94 Points
Domaine Philippe Cheron Vosne-Romanee Les Barreaux 2015
Landed Price $155.50
Pre Arrival Price $132.50
27 bottles available

Cheron Vosne Label Darren Harris:
Les Barreaux, made famous in recent years by Domaine Anne Gros, is wonderfully sited lying above Richebourg and Vosne-Romanee Cros Parantoux and alongside Petit Monts and Beaux Monts. Like its big brothers it produces a deeply coloured wine and those with an interest in wines of yesteryear will be delighted to know that Les Barreaux played a big part in the legendary Henri Jayer's Village Vosne-Romanee. Dark in colour. Aromatic nose with blacker fruits than the two Chambolles. Spices and minerals. Concentrated with plenty of extract and an underlying coolness. Quite muscular - more Richebourg than Romanee-St-Vivant in style. This is a serious lieu-dit which will age magnificently. And it is extremely well priced.
Domaine Fougeray de Beauclair
Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2015
Landed Price $559.00
Special Pre Arrival Price $419.00 (Save 25%)
20 bottles available

Fopugeray Beauclair Bonnes-Mares Label
Darren Harris:
There is only one maker of Bonnes-Mares from the Morey side and that is Domaine Fougeray de Beauclair. They farm 1.20 hectares of the old Clair-Dau vineyard and bottle the wine without any Chambolle fruit. (The other 0.32 hectares is blended with Chambolle Grapes in Bruno Clair's Bonnes-Mares). Needless to say that makes for an interesting and rare wine that few serious drinkers have had the pleasure to taste.
A powerful nose of dark fruits - blackberry, blackcurrant, cherries, violets, fresh oak. Gentle spice and a hint of marzipan. Great extract on the palate. It is structured, masculine and long. Indeed powerful, with a impressive tannin driven finish. Like all Bonnes-Mares this wine cries out for some time in the cellar. Seriously good!
Domaine Jean Chauvenet Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains 2015
750ml Landed Price $241.95
Pre Arrival Price $205.50
1500ml MAGNUM Landed Price $483.90
Pre Arrival Price $411.00
27 bottles and 4 Magnums available

Chauvenet Vaucrains label Burghound:
(from a .41 ha parcel). An exuberantly fresh and unusually expressive nose offers up notes of leather, plum, violet, spice and plenty of earth influence. Somewhat curiously relative to past vintages, the mouth feel of the focused, intense and powerful flavors is less rustic than usual though to be sure this is still very Vaucrains in style as there is plenty of punch and youthful austerity present on the driving and hugely long finish. Vaucrains is one of the longest-lived Nuits 1ers and this particular example will be no exception. Impressive. 2030+. 92-94 Points

Domaine Christian Clerget Vosne-Romanee Les Violettes 2015
Landed Price $195.00
Special Pre Arrival Price $146.25 (Save 25%)
15 bottles available
Clerget Violettes 2 La Violettes is located directly across the road from Clos Vouget. Grands Echezeaux is a stone's throw away. Technically it is located in Flagey-Echezeaux but as is law it is labelled as Vosne-Romanee. The legendary Henri Jayer considered the best village wines of the area to come from the vineyards furthest away from Nuits and closest to Flagey- Echezeaux and Clos Vougeot. The site of this vineyard certainly satisfies his requirements!

Jancis Robinson:
Black cherry, violet, crunchy and expressive with a proper floral scent on the finish. Very tender tannins indeed - very much an early-drinker, though there is gorgeous fruit intensity through to the finish. 17.5 Points

Domaine Olivier Guyot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2015
Landed Price $430.00
Special Pre Arrival Price $322.50 (Save 25%)
8 bottles available
Guyot Clos Vougeot label Darren Harris:
Red in colour, not particularly dark. An exuberant nose: violets, smoke, green tea, spice. The palate is sappy, with all the nuances suggested by the nose. The tannins are very fine leaving a silky impression. Long, stylish with a zip of refreshing acidity. Seductive. I don't know that I would pick this as Clos Vougeot in a blind tasting. It looks and tastes more like Grand Echezeaux to me with its spice and texture. Super!
