7 Gevrey-Chambertin Grand Crus / Vintage Port / 10 Year Anniversary Sale

7 Gevrey Grand Crus Header
Super Grand Crus from Gevrey-Chambertin
Gevrey-Chambertin has more Grand Crus than any other commune in Burgundy. The style of the vineyards varies from the rich and powerful Chambertin to the more elegant and lacy Latricieres-Chambertin.

Today I present 7 Grand Crus from across the commune. There is a range of vintages and makers, and also prices to suit all budgets.
Some wines are in stock, other are still Pre Arrival. All are available at a 15-25% savings.

Drouhin-Laroze Beze Label
Tim Atkin MW:
Some Clos de Bèze wines can be closed and unapproachable in their youth, but this isn't one of them. It's another complex, nuanced, all-too-drinkable Grand Cru from Caroline Drouhin. Fine tannins, notes of fresh tobacco and red cherry and strawberry fruit underscored by minerality. 2019-25. 96 Points

Domaine Launay-Horiot Latricieres-Chambertin Grand Cru 2014
Normal Price $429.00
Pre Arrival Price $365.00

Launay-Horiot Latricieres NV Label Tim Atkin MW:
The finesse and fragrance of this cool, elevated site are gloriously apparent on the nose and in the glass here. This 0.17-hectare parcel was planted in 1954 and has produced a haunting, perfumed, delicately framed wine complemented by understated oak and bracing minerality. 2019-28. 97 Points

Domaine Marchand-Grillot Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015
Normal Price $495.00
Special $420.75

Marchand-Grillot Ruchottes Label Darren Harris: Marchand-Grillot are the smallest owner of Ruchottes-Chambertin with a tiny 0.077 hectares. From this they make one barrel. In 2015 they had to have a barrel made especially for the cuvee and in the end they had a mere 408 bottles. Red fruits, oak, minerals. Closed to start but with air the wine begins to reveal its charm. It is very complex, multi-layered, yet at the same time very fine. It is energetic and fresh, sleek and long with a serious peacock's tail. Whilst Chambertin can be a blocker buster, Ruchottes is more about elegance and this wine has it in spades. If you are fortunate enough to secure some of this rare wine you will need to display some patience.

Albert Bichot Chambertin Grand Cru 2012
Normal Price $735.00
Special $661.50

Bichot Chambertin Wine Advocate - Neal Martin:  Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chambertin Grand Cru from Domaine du Clos Frantin (Albert Bichot) has a dense, fruit-driven bouquet that does not possess the detail of Rousseau's Chambertin 2012. Wild strawberry mingles with cranberry and dried orange peel notes that gain intensity in the glass, but not quite the precision. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, citrus fresh in the mouth with touches of blood orange. Perhaps the true quality of this wine is unveiled because it is far superior than the recalcitrant nose. There is a touch of bitterness on the finish, but that merely lends this Chambertin tension. Extraordinarily long and vital, this was one of the huge surprises of the blind tasting.

Camus Charmes Mood
Bill Nanson "The Burgundy Report"
The nose is mineral and understated - yet there is quite some depth. In the mouth, this has a nice racy stance with good texture and a nice depth of flavour that slowly expands before decaying in the finish. This wine has much to commend it - it is neither simple nor 'fruity', but it is engaging.

Domaine du Clos Frantin Chambertin Grand Cru 2015
Normal Price $995.00
Special $845.00

Frantin Chambertin label Steen Ohman Winehog.org: The Chambertin is another step up in intensity - yet it's a remarkably refined and floral wine. The nose offer juicy red and dark berry fruit brought forward by a very intense minerality .. very floral confirming that Gevrey did very well in this vintage. On the palate intense and concentrated but still lightfooted and refined .. impressive what the best terroirs can offer in terms of backbone and focus. An outstanding Le Chambertin .. bigger and better than the Grands Echezeaux? - yes perhaps .. but prefer the exuberant energy of the GE. 95-96 Points
