New 2016 Bourgogne Rouge from Chambolle-Musigny for a Song!
Domaine Roblot-Marchand have been family winemakers since 1910. It is a small domaine of just 8.5 hectares with excellent Premier Cru and Villages parcels in Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanee and Gevrey-Chambertin, as well as a killer Bourgogne Rouge from Chambolle-Musigny.

Many of you will have tried the delicious 2015 release and the 2016 is a great follow-up. The vintage style is different - more feminine and racy - and this wine is a killer again.

Today we present the 2016 Bourgogne. This mini-Chambolle is great buying at just $31.50 a bottle. If you buy a Case of 12 Bottles we'll make it just $29.54 a bottle. Be quick, stocks are already getting low.

Roblot-Marchand Bourgogne 2016 Label
Roblot-Marchand's Bourgogne comes from vines in Chambolle-Musigny. If you don't think vineyard location makes a difference at Bourgogne level you should try Roblot-Marchand's version (and Pascal Bouley's too). The aromatics of their Bourgogne tells you the wines from from superior vineyards and Roblot's always says Chambolle with its refined, feminine aromatics. A baby Chambolle at an amazing price.

Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Rouges du Dessus 2016
If it were not for its high position between 300 and 340 metres on the cote Les Rouge du Dessus would probably be Grand Cru. Long ago the bulk of vineyard was annexed into Echezeaux Les Rouges du Bas, one of Burghound's favourite climats of the Grand Cru.

Here the topsoil is only 30 to 40cm deep and rich in broken limestone rock. A high iron content makes the soil look red when wet, hence the name. This difficult soil helps limit yields and thus improves the quality of the wine.

There are only six owners of the Premier Cru Les Rouges du Dessus. The total size of the vineyard is just 2.62 hectares and Domaine Roblot-Marchand own almost half - 1.11 hectares. Other well known owners include Albert Bichot, Cecile Tremblay and Jean Grivot.
Darren Harris: The top wine of a brief tasting at the domaine in October 2017. The new vintage was in and most 2016's had just been racked (not this wine) so there was much activity in the cellars. Considerably deeper and darker than the previous wines. A nose of spice, small berries and violets. The palate expands to add mineral notes and displays the gorgeous juice of the 2016 vintage which is fresh, lively and very floral. Clearly Vosne. A lovely sense of balance - intensity without weight. A super wine again. Better than the 2015? I think it could be.
