Frantin 2015 Chambertin Header
Great Reviews and now Trophy for the Best Chambertin at the International Wine Challenge 2017

There are many outstanding Red Burgundies from 2015 and amongst the finest are the great Grand Crus from Domaine du Clos Frantin.
Domaine du Clos Frantin had incredible succes at the International Wine Challenge 2017. In fact they cleaned up. Of 14 wines submitted an incredible 12 won Gold Medals and stacked up a tally of no less than 13 Trophies!

IWC Trophy NV The Chambertin 2015 was one of the wines that received a Gold Medal and then topped the class and was awarded the Trophy for the Best Chambertin. This follows on from the highly successful 2014.
Not only did the wine perform well at the competition, it has also received terrific reviews from the critics. We have just 17 bottles left from our allocation.

A must-have for every serious Burgundy cellar. Put a bottle or two away and enjoy in 2027.

Frantin Chambertin label Wine Advocate - Neal Martin:
The 2015 Chambertin Grand Cru has a very expressive bouquet that comes racing out of the traps: ebulliant morello cherries, crushed strawberry, rose petals and damson scents that are quite intoxicating even at this prenatal stage. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, tensile tannin, layers of crisp red cherry and raspberry fruit sprinkled with white pepper and clove. This builds nicely in the mouth and it fans out gloriously, whereas the Charmes-Chambertin remains recalcitrant and linear. This is superb. 93-95 Points

Steen Ohman Winehog.org: The Chambertin is another step up in intensity - yet it's a remarkably refined and floral wine. The nose offer juicy red and dark berry fruit brought forward by a very intense minerality .. very floral confirming that Gevrey did very well in this vintage. On the palate intense and concentrated but still lightfooted and refined .. impressive what the best terroirs can offer in terms of backbone and focus. An outstanding Le Chambertin .. bigger and better than the Grands Echezeaux? - yes perhaps .. but prefer the exuberant energy of the GE
. 95-96 Points

Burghound:
The wood treatment isn't subtle, indeed it's overtly toasty at present though not so much as to mask the cool and otherwise admirably pure nose of red and dark currant, spice and floral scents. There is a really lovely sense of underlying tension to the rich yet beautifully detailed flavors that possess excellent size, weight and mid-palate density, all wrapped in a serious, stony and mildly austere finish that goes on and on. This is also indisputably built-to-age and like the Richebourg, is going to need plenty of patience. 2032+
92-95 Points

Confuron-Gindre Vosne label
A Cheeky little Vosne-Romanee from 2015
Domaine Confuron-Gindre's Vosne-Romanee 2015 is an assemblage from 10 plots spread across Vosne including Hautes Maizieres, Les Communes and Les Pres de la Folie (which I am told translates as the meadows of madness). Vine age is 30-70 years.

Jancis Robinson:
Cask sample. Mid cherry. Definite dark-red fruit on the nose, darker fruited than the Nuits-St-Georges. Dry, paper-fine texture. Really elegant in this dry shape around the fruit. Firm, chalky and fresh on the finish. 16.5 Points
