One of Burgundy's star performers at a super price
Domaine Henri Boillot own the huge 4 hectare Premier Cru Clos de la Mouchere in Puligny-Montrachet. It is a part of the 1er Cru Perrieres and is a monopole of the domaine.
Year-in, year-out it produces one of Boillot's top white wines.
Yesterday, whilst in France, I secured a parcel of the new 2016.
Clos de Mouchere is always a wine with masses of extract, stone fruits, citrus, minerals and a serious acid spine. Burghound called the 2014 "flat out brilliant" and the 2015 "Zen-like in its harmony. In a word, fantastic." Short of buying Chevalier-Montrachet it doesn't get much better than this!

Vinous: Stephen Tanzer: 
(13.3% alcohol with 4.5 grams per liter acidity; cropped at 38 hectoliters per hectare, from vines up to 80 years of age): Bright light-medium yellow. Utterly pure scents of stone fruits, apricot, nuts and honeysuckle. Rich, deep, silky and moderately saline but also powerful and backward, displaying terrific precision and purity in the mouth. A superb, classic Clos de la Mouchère: utterly plush and seamless without being heavy or over the top. Boillot noted that he will slowly replant these very old vines in a series of tranches over the next 15 to 25 years. 93-95 Points

New Prodcuers new Arrivals Dinner Header

New Producers/New Arrivals Dinner at Noir. Tuesday 31 October 2017

We have had two containers of Burgundy arrive just a month apart. So I have selected 13 Different Wines from 13 Different Producers to feature at our next dinner.
All bar one wine is from the new 2015 vintage and most are Premier Crus. This is a great opportunity to try the 2015 vintage and gain a first-hand knowledge of makers new to our portfolio.
We will be back at Noir in Richmond where chef Peter Roddy will match the wines with a 4 course menu.
