An Outstanding Languedoc Red - Just $279.00 a Case

Darons 2015 Header
Just the wine for everyday drinking!

Once a source only for cheap bulk wine, Languedoc is now proving its ability to make wonderful terroir wines at very reasonable prices. The region is thriving with so many exciting wine producers you hardly know where to turn.

The wines of the Languedoc have a lot in common with their relatives from the southern Rhone. Traditional Rhone varieties like Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache and Carignan are favoured by those with an eye to quality.

Today we present an outstanding Languedoc red at a super price. Les Darons rouge is available at $279.00 a Case, delivered. That works out at $23.25 a bottle - super buying for a "downright sexy" wine rated 91-93 by Rhone guru Jeb Dunnuck.

Jeb Dunnick, erobertparker.com What looks like another great vintage here, the 2015 AOP Languedoc les Darons is made from 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5% Carignan; grapes were completely destemmed, and fermented and aged all in concrete tanks. It sees absolutely no oak whatsoever. This medium to full-bodied, plump, rounded, downright sexy 2015 has lots of blueberry, violets, and jammy black cherry aromas and flavors; it has terrific purity of fruit, good acidity and an overriding sense of elegance. If it came from a more prestigious appellation in the southern Rhone, it would go for three times the price. 91-93 Points

Guigal Doriane Label
The almost Perfect Domaine Etienne Guigal Condrieu La Doriane 2015
Few international wines are scored 99 Points by the major critics. Here's one to delight.

Wine Advocate - Jeb Dunnuck: Easily one of the greatest Condrieu I've ever tasted is the 2015 Condrieu La Doriane. A wine that needs to be tasted to be believed, it possesses a huge nose of toasted brioche, liquid rocks, apricot, flower oil and salty minerality. Unctuous, full-bodied, massively rich, yet also elegant and graceful, with beautiful freshness, enjoy this tour de force over the coming 5-6 years.
