Jomain Bourgogne Header
Outstanding quality at a very low price
My visit to Domaine Jomain earlier this year was my first. Located in Puligny-Montrachet, the domaine has a raft of fine Premier Crus and the Grand Cru Batard-Montrachet.
However is was their Bourgogne Blanc that that made me raise my eyebrows. It was simply stunning.
Jomain's Bourgogne comes from vines in Puligny-Montrachet and it displayed every character you associate with the wines of Puilgny - flowers, citrus and a stony minerality. I thought it was a villages Puligny.
Unfortunately, they were just teasing as the 2015 had sold out.
The good news is that overnight I have secured an allocation of the new and equally stunning 2016. 2016 is considered more classic in style and Philippe Jomain assures me that the wine is every bit as good (or perhaps, with a wink) better than the 2015.
Domaine Jomain is featured in Bill Nanson's The Finest Wines of Burgundy along with Leflaive, Leroy, Roulot etc. As you can see their prices are somewhat different.
If you have a love of White Burgundy (Puligny-Montrachet in particular) and don't wish to spend a fortune this is a great wine. You get all the character at a fraction of the price.
We offer the wine at our usual 15% Pre Arrival Discount which we increase to 20% for unbroken cases of 12 bottles. That make this little stunner just $37.20 a bottle!

Old Vines Gevrey-Chambertin 2015 from Domaine Henri Magnien
It's amazing the effect old vines have on a wine.
This Gevrey-Chambertin from Domaine Henri Magnien is made from vines of 40 to over 100 years of age.
the result is a wine of exceptional texture and breadth, yet still with elegance and style.
We have 33 bottles left from
 our allocation.
Darren Harris: From 8 parcels with a vine age of 40-100 years. All vinified together. Deep, dark and spicy. Licquorice, raspberries and cream. Complex and deep. Powerful. This has lovely palate texture and firm tannins on the finish. A wine of great character, just terrific. Gevrey really performed in 2015.

Bourgogne Aujourd'Hui:
Lovely village wine with power and elegance. Very savoury in the mouth with fine tannins and beautiful length. 17 Points
