"Breathtakingly good": Burghound on the Clos du Roi

Comte Senard Email The Domaine Comte Senard is run by Lorraine Senard and her father Philippe. The Domaine is famous for extensive vineyard holdings in the Cote de Beaune with the highlight being a large, and interesting, selection of Corton Grand Cru Red. The holdings include the famous Clos du Roi and Bressandes plus a most unusual and rare Red Corton produced from with in the Charlemagne area and the monopole Clos des Meix. The domaine also produces Corton-Charlemagne and an impressive Corton Blanc Grand Cru. They are great to compare.

Senard Roi Label Corton is one of the longest lived of all the Burgundian communes and the 2010's will prove great in the cellar. That said, the style of Comte Senard is not old fashioned and sternly tannic. The wines display the bext of new winemaking with old world understanding. I was particularly impressed by the 2010 Clos du Roi, Bressandes and Paulands and am pleased to see Burghound has reviewed the wines similarly. He describes the Clos du Roi as "breathtakingly good".

With the strong Australian Dollar the 2010 wines are cheaper than in 2009. You can save an additional 15% by ordering at our Pre Arrival Prices - but only until the end of the month when the wines will arrive. We have good stocks of the Clos du Roi and Bressandes but all other wines are now down to the last case. Don't miss this opportunity to secure a great array of Grand Crus at a very affordable prices.

A Classic 2010 Volnay at little more than Bourgogne Rouge

That has to be a bargain!

The 2010 wines from Bitouzet-Prieur show great typicity with appealing medium body and lots of perfume. Classic Volnay!

The first of the wines are already in stock and we draw your attention to the 2010 Volnay Villages.

Bitouzet Volnay Label

Burghound describes the wine "Not surprisingly, this is both more elegant and more complex with an attractively layered and ripe nose of red and blue pinot fruit, plum and a pretty violet nuance. There is good richness to the pure, intense and beautifully precise medium-bodied flavors that enjoy a seductive texture before culminating in an understated, balanced and lingering finish. Thanks to the two 1ers that are in the 2010 version, this is notably finer than the typical Volnay villages. A Sweet Spot Wine"

The wine is available now at just $49.99 a bottle which is not much more than many generic Bourgogne. If you buy a full case of 12 you pay for 11 bottles and get free shipping.
