My visit to Burgundy late last year allowed me to taste a large number of wines from the 2015 vintage. The reds in particular are quite exceptional.
From what I tasted Gevrey-Chambertin is one of the standout communes producing wine after wine of serious interest.
My tasting at Albert Bichot was very extensive covering wines from the delicious Bourgogne up to big range of grand crus.
Two wines really impressed me. The first was the Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Malconsorts offered recently. Click here
to view. The other was the Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St-Jacques.
Lavaux St-Jacques is located on the western side of the commune. It is a cooler site tucked towards the Combe de Lavaux right alongside, and on the same elevation, as Clos St-Jacques. The topography ensures a stream of fresh, cool air which translates into style and finesse. Jasper Morris says "Lavaux St-Jacques makes a fine-boned Gevrey with precision and elegance; much more a red-fruit wine than a dense dark Pinot."
I am a big fan of the vineyard and the quality and style it regularly delivers. In 2015 Bichot have made a very special wine.

Darren Harris: Tasted after the Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Malconsorts and before the Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru. The most lifted of the three. More red fruits than black. Mineral-driven. Round, full and velvety in the mouth. Bags of intense flavour, yet detailed with a great palate feel. I wrote the word "delicious" as this wine represents wonderful drinking at the moment but the balance, complexity and pedigree also make it a candidate for extended cellaring.
Tim Atkin MW:
Given its position at the bottom of the cool Combe de Lavaux, it's no surprise that the Premier Cru made such balanced wines in a hot vintage. This is a very polished, refreshing Pinot with redcurrant and pomegranate fruit, a dusting of oak and chalky acidity. 2022-28. 95 Points
Wine Advocate - Neal Martin:
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint Jacques has a fragrant bouquet with very fine Pinot Noir character, the coolness of the site really counterbalancing the precocity of the vintage and frankly, showing up the more alcoholic and powerful Vosne-Romanée Malconsorts. The palate is very well balanced with supple tannin, fleshy and harmonious in the mouth with a very elegant, quite suave finish. This comes highly recommended. 92-94 Points
