Four not-to-be-missed Premier Crus from 2015

2015 4 Premier Crus Header
Four Premier Crus from 2015 - all highly recommended

By now you have probably read Burghound's thoughts about the 2015 red vintage in Burgundy. He says "2015 - A Great Vintage, Indeed the Greatest Since the Legendary 2005".
However 2015 is quite different to 2005. It is fresher and more transparent and does not have the brooding tannins of the earlier vintage.
Burghound goes on to add "...it is a genuinely great vintage and it's a great vintage from top to bottom."

Today we feature 4 Premier Crus that really impressed during my Burgundy visit in November-December 2016. It is no coincidence that three of the wines are from Gevrey-Chambertin as this commune performed extremely well in 2015 producing wines that combine power and style in a beguiling.

We offer the wines at our usual Pre Arrival Price which saves you 15% on the landed price. Buy an unbroken case of a single wine and save 20%.

Albert Bichot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St-Jacques 2015
Landed Price $237.95
Pre Arrival Price $201.95
Case of 12 Bottles $2284.30 ($190.36/Bottle)
Bichot Lavaux Label Wine Advocate - Neal Martin
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint Jacques has a fragrant bouquet with very fine Pinot Noir character, the coolness of the site really counterbalancing the precocity of the vintage and frankly, showing up the more alcoholic and powerful Vosne-Romanée Malconsorts. The palate is very well balanced with supple tannin, fleshy and harmonious in the mouth with a very elegant, quite suave finish. This comes highly recommended. 92-94 Points

Michel Noellat Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts 2015
Landed Price $239.50
Pre Arrival Price $203.50
MAGNUM Landed Price $499.95
Pre Arrival Price $424.95

Noellat Beaumonts Label
Wine Advocate - Neal Martin:
The 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts has a refined bouquet with plenty of what we call "Pinoté" - quite Lamarche-like in style. There is a touch of reduction though that will ebb away with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red and black fruit, a keen line of acidity and better precision and nervosité than the Les Suchots. There is drive and focus to this premier cru, as well as excellent length. This is well worth investigating. 92-94 Points

Henri Magnien Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers 2015
Landed Price $265.95
Pre Arrival Price $225.95

Magnien Cazetiers label NVDarren Harris: Wonderful aromatic nose with spice, liquored cherries, licorice and myrtille. Real intensity on the palate with deep flavours carried by a powerful mineral spine. Fresh, racy, complex. From a 1.5 hectare parcel of 100 year old vines - the serious vine age and low cropping combine to make this a a stunning Premier Cru. Brilliant wine from a superstar in the making.

Jean-Michel Guillon Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru La Petite Chapelle 2015
Landed Price $265.95
Pre Arrival Price $225.95

Guillon Petit Chapelle Label
Burghound:
(from 50+ year old vines). Much more modulated wood and reduction make the nose difficult to assess today. By contrast there is both good vibrancy and freshness to the notably more refined medium weight flavors that also exude a subtle minerality on the super-saline, balanced and impressively long finish. This is also quite refreshing and while it would be infanticide to open one early, this just makes one feel like drinking it. Worth considering. 91-93 Points
