Friday evening I was offered a little parcel of Aged Burgundy by one of my French contacts.
The parcel consisted of 12 bottles - 4 each Musigny, Romanee-St-Vivant and Grands Echezeaux - all from the 1962 vintage.
The bottles were in such superb condition that I did not hesitate and snapped them all up.
You have probably heard me say that finding aged Burgundy in France has become difficult and that is certainly true. Finding top Grand Crus in this lovely condition is even harder.
Lupe-Cholet is part of the Albert Bichot empire. I do not know whether these are a special cellar release or have just been superbly cellared.
I offer the wines as a Set of 3 comprising one bottle of each of the three appellations. The Price is $5000.00 for the Set. I have one set remaining for a serious Burgundy aficionado.
Whilst that is a substantial amount of money let me remind you of the prices for 2015
Vintage Grand Crus. You can't find Musigny or Romanee-St-Vivant under $1000.00 a bottle from the latest vintage. The opportunity to buy beautifully cellared 55 year old Grand Crus at less than double the current vintage is, I feel, rather special.
For those of you born in 1962 this is a particularly significant opportunity. If you would like the set please contact me direct at firstname.lastname@example.org. These bottles are not on our website.
