The 2015 Red Burgundies are receiving great praise from the critics. It is certainly a vintage to seriously consider.
I like to find domaines that are on the rise. Domaine Duroche is certainly one of those. From being relatively unknown a decade ago this domaine has moved into the upper echelon of producers.

This tiny producer has just 8.25 hectares of vines, but boy do they have some great vineyards. All that was needed was exceptional care in the vineyard and great winemaking. With a change of generation we have them both and the results are tremendous.
Not long ago I read an article comparing the wines to those of Fourrier. The article went on to say "As I was leaving my incredible appointment with Gilles Duroche I was wondering why I had never
heard of them before as the wines were absolutely stunning. They remind me of Fourrier. Yes. Fourrier. They are utterly classic Gevrey Chambertins with fantastically brilliant site character, utmost finesse without sacrificing power, sappy vivid fruit that is very on the red side and incredible depth. They use wood so brilliantly it kept compelling me to ask young Gilles Duroche if there was any wood on the wine at all, despite tasting out of barrels in the cellar. This is a rising star domaine if I have ever tasted one."
Domaine Duroche are certainly now on the critics radar. Tim Atkin MW rated the domaine in his Top 25 producers alongside DRC, Rousseau, Leroy, Georges Roumier and other legends. It is a great achievement. See above.
Today I offer the 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Champ. The vineyard of Champ, Or En Champ, is located at the northern end of Gevrey alongside the Premier Crus Cazetiers and Champeaux. Jasper Morris describes it as "An excellent vineyard". It produces classic Gevrey with race and aromatics. Simply great drinking! Duroche's vines are now quite old being planted between 1969 and 1973.
Gevrey-Chambertin was one of the star performers in 2015. The wines have beautiful aromatics and are stylish and precise. We offer the Gevrey-Chambertin Champ at a Pre Arrival Price saving you 15%. It is very well priced for a named vineyard Gevrey-Chambertin from a super-star in the making.
Read the tasting note! If you love sensual, aromatic Burgundy this is a wine for you. At less than $100 a bottle it is not to be missed.

Wine Advocate - Neal Martin:
The 2015 Gevrey Chambertin En Champ has a fresh blackberry and raspberry leaf-scented bouquet with far greater clarity and mineralité than the Gevrey villages. This is very perfumed, almost sensual. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity and fine grain tannins. What I appreciate is the sense of energy in situ and it is almost sorbet-like towards the finish, a hint of licorice poking through on the aftertaste. This should be utterly delicious from the word go. 88-90 Points
