14 Year Old Premier Cru Red Burgundy - a Steal at $74.99 a Bottle by the Case

The third of my purchases from the cellars of Doudet-Naudin.
There are numerous Perrieres vineyards scattered across Burgundy. The name relates to the stones in the soil and the sites were often those of very old quarries as was the case with Beaune 1er Cru Perrieres.
The stony soil is responsible for minerality in the wines which makes all Perrieres sites popular with Burgundy Lovers.
This wine was another of my cellar purchases from Doudet-Naudin. I did some super deals and are delighted to pass them on to our clients. Where else can you buy a 14 year old Premier Cru Red Burgundy for less than $75 a bottle?

Darren Harris: Beautifully aromatic nose of ripe red cherry, flowers, a hint of marzipan and cherry pits. A silky, fresh palate, mineral infused, with deliciously succulent flavours over long and fine tannins. Racy but mouthcoating. At the beginning of its drinking window but capable of many more years in the cellar. A really fine example of 1er Beaune from a top vintage.
Aged Burgundies are no longer available in the quantities they once were. This is a great opportunity to secure a 14-year-old red at less than the price of the current vintage.

14 Year Old White Burgundy. Still fresh!
Aged in Burgundy, drinking superbly!

Another of my purchases from the cellars of Doudet-Naudin.
Aged white Burgundy was once one of the great pleasures of the wine world. But alas, as we all know, it is not easy to find decade old whites still in perfect condition.

Most of us are caught up with the big names - Puligny, Chassagne and Meursault and don't give the whites of other areas like Beaune much attention. However, I can tell you that Beaune produces some very long lived whites that develop real complexity and are seriously interesting.
On tasting this wine I immediately snapped up the last 123 bottles in the domaine's reserve stock.
For lovers of aged white Burgundy or those interested to see what it is all about it is a steal at our special price of just $69.95 a Bottle.
Darren Harris: Apart from Clos de Mouches we do not see many whites from Beaune. However, the commune is very capable of producing long-lived whites that develop serious complexity. This is one example! Quite pale colour. Intense nose displaying crème brulee with some citrus and flowers. The palate is rich and round, but not fat - it is underpinned by good acidity. Fresh! Really rather complex and drinking beautifully. Not a trace of premature ageing. 2002 was a highly lauded vintage for white Burgundy. Unfortunately in Australia we see far too many premoxed whites. This Beaune 1er Cru is fresh and very interesting. Try it. Aged white Burgundy as it should be!
