Les Cazetiers is located high on the upper slopes of Gevrey-Chambertin beside Clos St Jacques. The vineyard faces due east and the soil is full of small stones which aid drainage and reflect heat.

After Clos St Jacques, Les Cazetiers is considered the most interesting vineyard of this Cote producing fine, elegant wines that age extremely well. Jasper Morris MW says "Cazetiers gives a feeling of refinement and precision which has an intellectual appeal as well as being vinously satisfying".

Domaine Chezeaux's parcel is farmed en metayage by Domaine Berthaut. Like the wines produced by Ponsot the two wines are identical. Chezeaux take 1/3 and Berthaut 2/3.

Last week we were fortunate to be offered the last of the domaine's 2014 Les Cazetiers. The wine is made from very old vines which yield less than many top Grand Crus. We have just 37 bottles left.

This is an incredible price for such a highly regarded Premier Cru.

Antonio Galloni Vinous: Full dark red. Red plum, redcurrant and a whiff of musky animal reduction on the nose. In a juicy, sharply delineated style, boasting excellent inner-mouth floral lift to its concentrated berry and black cherry flavors. Finishes with excellent length and energy. The very old vines here yielded barely 28 hectoliters per hectare in 2014. 90-92 Points
