12 Different Vosne-Romanee - save 20% on a this super Tasting Pack
We all love the wines of Vosne-Romanee but they are not easy to find. And that demand also means they are not cheap.

Today we present a 12-Bottle Vosne-Romanee Tasting Pack from Domaine Jacques Cacheux. The Pack comprises 12 different wines from Vosne lieu-dits. Normally $125.00 a bottle, we offer this 12-Bottle Pack at an extremely reasonable $1199.00 - less than $100.00 a bottle.

Domaine Jacques Cacheux is located in Vosne-Romanée. They own 7 hectares of vines spread over 11 appellations in Vosne-Romanee, Flagey-Echezeaux, Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-St-Georges. The jewels in the crown are a lovely selection of Vosne Villages and Premier Crus which they sell at very reasonable prices. To view a map of Vosne-Romanee showing all the vineyards click here.

Cacheaux Chalandins Patrice Cacheux took over from his father in 1994 and immediately set about revitalising the vineyards with sustainable viticulture, to which they now practice biodynamic agriculture. The grapes are 100% de-stemmed, have a week of cold maceration, and left alone to start fermentation (no inoculation) then settled for 10 days after fermentation: Premier and Grand Cru fruit sees 100% new oak and bottled without fining or filtration.

Stylistically these wines are meant for ageing: their balance and oak management superb. The wines are airy with fresh tones, are neither dark fruited nor pale; they sit comfortably in their own skin and have no need to shout. Domaine Jacques Cacheux produce fabulous Pinot with perfect line and length, built for the cellar and with respect & understanding for their home of Vosne-Romanée.

Tasting Notes

Aux Réas 2011: Very good colour for the vintage. No undue age, fresh nose. A touch lean but still supple. On the palate medium bodied. Not an enormous length but generous and round.

Aux Réas 2012: Splendid colour. This is exotically rich, Chocolaty, a little new oaky, with a lot of intensity and structure behind it. It is beginning to go into Its shell now. But this Is an excellent example, its succulent, concentrated and balanced.

Aux Réas 2013: Good colour. Ripe and plump on the nose, but with intensity and depth. Lovely ripe stylish fruit though certainly quite full, and with an excellent complex follow-through. A meaty 2013 which finishes with real dimension and class.

Les Chalandins 2011: Just a little less colour. Better nose, more vigour, more concentration. Fresher and more ample, very good for 2011. Open, generous and accessible. This is remarkably good. An extra element of concentration, vigour and class.

Les Chalandins 2013: Medium-full colour. Fat, ripe and ample on the nose. Fullish, good tannin structure. Lots of plump ripe fruit. This is very good indeed, long and complex and full of finesse.

Les Genaivrieres 2013: Wreaks Burgundy and place. Silky tannins, subtle fruit, cedary oak, subdued cherries.

Les Ormes 2011: Good fresh colour, fine nose. Full concentrated, just a slight vegetal touch - but in a good sense. Rich and complex. This is full and firm on the palate. Just a little solid and rigid at first, but it evolved well. The follow through is balanced and ample.

Les Ormes 2012: Terrific dark cherry nose with pine needles and forest floor. The mid-palate controls most of the wine right now and finishes with firm tannins. A really well put together Vosne.

Les Ormes 2013: Sweeter than the '12 but still lovely fruit and movement. Oak is framing this wine right now so needs to settle. Pale cherries, good acidity and pretty lines. Fabulous Vosne.

Les Raviolles 2011: Blackcurrant and a little touch of tobacco leaf can be seen in this Vosne. More austere, quite complex, a fine example for the vintage. This is balanced and stylish, good long positive finish.

Les Raviolles 2012: Very good colour. Lovely rich oaky nose. Plenty of fruit and volume, big masculine, full bodied and tannic. Rich and firm with lots of depth, lovely Pinot fruit. Very long, very classy and fine.

Les Raviolles 2013: Medium-full colour. Rich plummy nose. On the palate rather more composed than the above. It is not a blockbuster but the fruit is fragrant and balanced, the tannins are ripe and there is good intensity.
