"This impeccably run estate (Domaine de la Janasse), in the capable hands of Christophe Sabon, his sister Isabelle, and their father, is one of the superstars of the southern Rhone Valley. Over the last 12-15 years, the quality of the wines has gone from strength to strength, with brilliant wines being produced in all price categories. They make sumptuous, complex, world-class red, white and rose Cotes du Rhones, and year-in and year-out, their Chateauneuf du Papes are among the top three or four wines of the vintage. Tasting two great vintages (2009 and 2010) from the Sabons was one of the most thrilling tastings I have had this year. My tasting began with some unbelievable Cotes du Rhones."
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate Issue 197 October 2011
The wines of Domaine de la Janasse consistantly score at the top of everyone's annual reviews. They make tremendous wines right across the range.
Whilst the Chateauneuf-du-Pape's receive the most press the Cotes-du-Rhones are, as Robert Parker says, "unbelievable".
Our next container which is on the way contains both Cotes-du-Rhones from the domaine from the outstanding 2010 vintage. If you are looking for some great drinking from Chateauneuf's top domaine don't miss these.
Normal Price $25.95
Pre Arrival Price $21.95
An absolute bargain for the quality.
The Rhone Report: Tasted out of foudre, the 2010 Domaine de la Janasse Côtes du Rhône, mostly Grenache but with small amounts of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and Carignan, shows a peppery, mineral, and dark fruited profile with beautiful purity, good concentration, and chewy tannin and structure. Possibly outstanding, this should be a serious value and have a solid 5-8 years of longevity. 88-91 Points
2010 Cotes-du-Rhone Villages
Pre Arrival Price $35.50
The step up from the previous wine. Brilliant reviews!
Robert Parker: The amazing 2010 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Terre d'Argile may be just as good as the 2007. A black/ruby color is followed by abundant aromas of cassis, blackberries, black cherries, licorice and a hint of charcoal. The wine possesses good acidity, a fullbodied mouthfeel and terrific precision. It is a big wine that should age well for up to a decade. 92-94 Points
