The Domaine du Clos Frantin Grands-Echezeaux has won the 2012 Decanter Award for Red Burgundy of the Year.

This prestigious award also follows hot on the heels of Bichot's White Wine Maker of the Year and White Burgundy Trophy at International Wine Challenge 2011. When you are hot, you are hot!

We sold out of this wine when we offered it on Tuesday. We have managed to get a few more cases but once they sell there will be no more. So please act today it you would like some of this award winning wine.

Domaine du Clos Frantin

Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru

Normally $309.00

Pre Arrival $263.00

Frantin 2010 G-E LabelFrom a very small 0.25 ha parcel owned by the Domaine. Deep red-black. Wonderful nose of Asian spices with dark cherry, plum and something hauntingly alluring providing the background notes. Complex, concentrated, sappy fruit flavours, with a lovely mouthfilling suppleness and more of the spice. Very persistant and fine on the finish. Really all you expect from Grands Echezeaux but seldom get.

You will find numerous other reviews of this wine in our website. Click here to read them all. They all praise the wine for its aromatics and Asian Spice - a character we all know and love from other more expensive red Burgundies!

The wine was sold out but the Domaine has very generously allocated us a few extra cases from their reserve stock. If you would like some of this classic in the making I suggest you act quickly. We feel the wine is exceptional value for the quality.

IWC Gold Medal Logo And just to further confirm the status of the wine it has also just been awarded a Gold Medal at the International Wine Challenge 2012! Why not pop half a dozen into the cellar and enjoy the wine over the next decade or two?

Bichot Alberic Alain

More Great Wines from the Bichot Portfolio

Albert Bichot began business in 1831 as a negociant. However, over the years the family has purchased vast quantites of land in the top appellations of Burgundy and today in addition to the negociant business the family owns four distinct domaines who grow their own grapes and vinify the wines independently. The family holdings now total over 100 hectares.

Since the mid 2000's, under the guidance of CEO Alberic Bichot and Chief Winemaker Alain Serveau, the wines we have enjoyed a meteoric rise in quality. This has been acknowledged with a plethora of awards that few, if any, in Burgundy could match. They have won Red Wine Maker and White Wine Maker of the Year Awards at the International Wine Challenge, been named as one of the Top 100 Wineries in the World by Wine and Spirit Magazine and of course we have the two recent Decanter Red Burgundy of the Year awards.

So if you have been a sceptic and considered the wines were just like those of the other big negociants you are quite wrong. It is time you tried some!

We have a fine range available from the great recent years.
