Finesse and sophistication - the 2014 Faiveley Latricieres-Chambertin

Faiveley Latricieres 2014 Header
A cracker wine! - the 2014 Latricieres-Chambertin from Domaine Faiveley

Latricieres-Chambertin is a great vineyard. It adjoins Le Chambertin on the top side of the Route de Grand Crus. For me this is the most Chambolle-like vineyard of Gevrey-Chambertin. Great Latricieres is always lacy, elegant, perfumed and long. The French say arien - a word that sits somewhere between airy and ethereal. It should have compexity and intensity but be light on its feet. It is the Gevrey version of Le Musigny.
The new 2014 release from Faiveley has been very highly rated by the major critics, although they don't see it quite the same. The reviews are all excellent but quite different!
We have managed to obtain additional 750ml bottles but you will need to act quickly to secure this beauty.

Faiveley Latricieres Label
Tim Atkin MW: Everything that a really good Latricières should be, showing the brightness, freshness and reserve of this under-rated Grand Cru. Chalky, subtle and silky with fine-grained tannins, succulent berry fruit and impressive finesse and palate length. 2017-30. 96 Points

Burghound: (from a very large 1.21 ha parcel). A highly reserved, cool and super-fresh nose only reluctantly gives up the essence of red cherry, pomegranate, wet stone and soft earth aromas. The supporting tannins are even finer than those of the Clos de Vougeot and the minerality is much more pronounced on the delineated middle weight flavors that seem to vibrate in the mouth before terminating in an austere, saline and hugely long finish. In the same fashion as the Clos de Vougeot the tannic spine is fine but quite prominent and plenty of patience is a must. 2031+. 93-95 Points

Vinous: Stephen Tanzer:
Dark red. Very pure but subdued aromas of black raspberry, bitter chocolate and minerals. Suave and wonderfully precise on the palate, conveying lovely inner-mouth rose petal lift to the flavors of raspberry and crushed-stone minerality. Totally different in style from the Clos Vougeot and Echézeaux and a step up in precision, finesse and sophistication. The very long, rising, saline finish perks up the taste buds. My projected score may prove to be overly conservative. 92-94 Points
