Beaune Clos des Mouches "The Ultimate in Wine"

Berthelemot Mouches Ultimate Header
An outstanding red from the wonderful 2015 vitage
The Beaune vineyard Clos des Mouches is rather unusual in a number of ways.
It is one of the few sites in Burgundy that produces Red and White wine of quality.
The name translates as "honey bees" and has become famous over the decades due to the success of Drouhin's wines from this prime climat.
It is quite a large vineyard (25.18 hectares) and despite being located on the Pommard border it produces wines of unusual finesse. This is due to the slope of the land and the presence of more sand than across the border which ensures excellent drainage.
Domaine Berthelemot produce both a red and white from Clos des Mouches. The 2015 Red has just received a fantastic review from Bourgogne Aujourd'Hui - notoriously hard scorers.

Berthelemot Mouches Label Bourgogne Aujourd'Hui:
Fresh with a clean fruity note on the nose; intense and rich in the mouth with good tannins; one taster considered it as the ultimate in wine. 18/20
This is the sort of score usually only awarded to the very top Grand Crus!

Seriously good value for a highly rated Red from the 2015 vintage.

More Wines from Beaune

Since 2009 I have seen enormous changes in the quality of wines from Beaune.

Where the wines we once dry and often over firm, we now see a range of wines offering tremendous pleasure.

We have a nice selection available, many of which represent tremendous value in today's strong Burgundy market.
