Chateau Rayas Dinner 1978-2005. Domaine Juillot 2010 Corton-Charlemagne

Rayas Dinner Header

Chateauneuf-du-Pape's Greatest Name! Taste some historic wines including the rare 1978 and the legendary 1990 - both have been rated 100 Points.

Chateau Rayas was founded in 1880 when Albert Reynaud lost his hearing and retired from his notary practice. The estate passed through the family with Jacques inheriting Rayas in 1978.

Incredibly low yields were the secret to the domaine's success and the reputation thrived despite Jacques unusual personality. Several legendary wines were produced prior to Jacques sudden death in 1997 and this dinner features some of the all time greats.

This dinner will feature the following wines:

2005 Chateau Rayas

2004 Chateau Rayas
2003 Chateau Rayas
1994 Chateau Rayas
1993 Chateau Rayas
1990 Chateau Rayas
1990 Pignan
1989 Chateau Rayas
1988 Chateau Rayas
1985 Chateau Rayas
1985 Pignan
1983 Chateau Rayas
1978 Chateau Rayas
The early wines are now quite rare. Included is the 1978 - the first vintage made by Jacques Reynaud and the legendary 1990. Both have been rated 100 Points. We also have two Domaine de Pignan wines from the same family which will provide an interesting comparison.
