Every wine maker in Burgundy will tell you it is what you have and do in the vineyard that determines the quality of your wine.
The concept of terroir takes into account many aspects and the vigneron needs to ensure healthy grapes from low yielding vines find their way to the winery. The job in the winery is to successfully capture what nature and the vineyard have given you and get it into the bottle.
Domaine Michel Juillot is extremely fortunate as their Corton-Charlemagne vines are right alongside Coche-Dury's famous parcel.
The terroir is identical! The price is not!
A bottle of Coche's famous Corton-Charlemagne will set you back $1500.00 or more. You can buy Juillot's wine from just $155.00 a bottle!

Juillot's parcel is just 0.65 ha. We are too early for Burghound's note on the 2010 but past vintages are described as powerful, precise, concentrated, gorgeously textured, mineral and long. John Gilman (A View from the Cellar) is also a big fan. I tasted Juillot's wines at the Grand Jours de Bourgogne earlier this year and was also very impressed. If you like Corton-Charlemagne this wine is a must have. Corton-Charlemagne cellars so well so why not put a few extra bottles into the cellar.
2010 Domaine Juillot Corton Perrieres Grand Cru
Normal Price $129.00
Pre Arrival Price $109.00
Pre Arrival Case Price $1188.00 (=$99.00 a bottle)
Another great red from the commune that has shown incredible quality improvement in recent years. Burghound describes Juillot's 2005 as such " Corton-Perrières does not receive as much credit as it should for being one of the most elegant and sophisticated of the Corton grands crus as it can be very fine as this example demonstrates amply with its high-toned and very pure red pinot fruit aromas that display evident minerality. The flavors are very fresh, detailed and powerful and the hallmark minerality resurfaces on the focused and beautifully long finish. This will require at least a decade to be at its best as there are very firm and mouth coating tannins lurking beneath the baby fat. In a word, terrific." The 2010 is just as good, if not better. Remarkable value at just $99.00 by the case!
