The end of the financial year has come and gone but the election blues linger.
Whilst we might not be sure just who will govern the country I have a sure-fire Burgundy offer this morning.
Occasionally I am a little too enthusiastic and buy too much wine. With new items constantly arriving sometimes the best option is to move the old stock to make way for the new.
Our 2014 Chevillon-Chezeaux Nuits-St-Georges are virtually sold out and will be ready to ship in August. In 2013 I was too bullish and simply purchased too much from this popular domaine. We have too much 2013 Chevillon-Chezeaux Nuits-St-Georges in stock. With several containers being assembled in Europe now seems like a good time to move them.
Today I am offering the remaining 2013 Chevillon-Chezeaux 1er Cru Reds at Half Price.
That is well below my cost. We have 4 Premier Crus available: Les Porets, Les Bousselots, Aux Champs Perdrix and Les Crots.
Fifty Percent Off means most of the wines are less than $60 a bottle. There are a lot of basic Bourgogne that cost that much today.
2013 and the Chevillon-Chezeaux style make for an elegant, low alcohol, Burgundy that can be enjoyed for the next 10 years plus. The four vineyards all provide a different expression.
Les Porets: A tiny holding of 0.23 hectares. Located close to Les St-Georges this vineyard is powerful and structured with wild aromatics and often a note of liquorice.
Les Bousselots: is located at the northern end of Nuits-St-Georges close to Vosne-Romanee. Here the wines tend to display more perfume and elegance - a theoretical combination of Nuits and Vosne. The domaine's holdings are just 0.36 hectares.
Aux Champs Perdrix: is a small vineyard at the Vosne-Romanee end of Nuits-St-Georges. The style is fine and elegant. There are not many owners of this Premier Cru. Domaine Chevillon-Chezeaux own just 0.36 hectares.
Les Crots: Located just south of the village. Richer, darker, deeper fruit flavours. Spice, plum, earth, violets. From a tiny 0.24 hectare holding.
