Domaine Rouge-Bleu Lunatique 2011
Special $39.75 Save 50%
The domaine's top cuvee, is made from 100% Grenache from 80 year old vines. Producer:
A burly style, with dark licorice, roasted plum, smoldering tobacco and charcoal notes, all backed by plum skin and tar on the finish. Features a slightly sinewy structure, but shows enough flesh for balance and should settle in with modest cellaring" Wine Spectator: Deep garnet, intense nose evoquing notes of forest floor, spices and cooked red fruit. Mouth fillling with a good structure, freshness and minerality. Lots of character.
Domaine Jean Chauvenet Nuits-St-Georges MAGNUM 2012
Special $163.30 Save 33%
Burghound: An overtly sauvage nose of earth, humus, underbrush and dark berry liqueur-like aromas is in keeping with the rich, generous and markedly ripe middle weight flavors that possess excellent concentration. There is an abundance of dry extract that really coats the palate on the mildly rustic but complex finish. This is a very fine Nuits villages that isn't exactly old school but it certainly leans that direction. A Sweet Spot Wine.
Domaine Gaston and Pierre Ravaut Ladoix 1er Cru Les Basses Mourottes 2012
Special $53.95 Save 40%
Another of those sites vineyards in Corton where part of the vineyard is Grand Cru and part is Premier Cru. A fascinating comparion with Ravaut's Grand Cru Corton of the same name.
This wine always looks like a mini-Corton with structure and minerality and real presence. Incredible value for a Premier Cru Red Burgundy from a great year.
Domaine Tour-Saint-Michel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Feminessance 2012
Special $77.95 Save 40%
Robert Parkers's Wine Advocate:
Much more modern in style, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Feminessance is a drop dead gorgeous effort that's a blend of mostly Grenache, with a smaller component of Syrah, that's aged in smaller oak barrels. Deeply colored, with full-bodied richness and depth, this layered, serious 2012 offers up creamy raspberry, cassis, licorice, vanilla and hints of white chocolate to go with a fresh, balanced profile. This won't be for everyone, given the vanilla overtones, yet it is incredibly well done in the style, never loses its Southern Rhone soul, and is hard to resist, even now. It can be consumed on release, yet won't hit its stride until 3-5 years after the vintage, and have 12-15 years of total longevity. Drink 2015-2027.
Chateau Tirecul la Graviere Monbazillac MADAME (500ml) 2009
Special $159.00 Save 40%
Gault and Millau:
The sweetness of nectar honeydew. A bottom composition of the best royal jelly with a subtle touch of orange blossom. To make you crazy. The creamy texture is masterful. A beautiful vintage.
Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine Pernard-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile de Vergelesses 2013
Special $66.25 Save 33%
A wonderfully fresh nose evidences a notably cool array of dark currant, floral and distinct earth scents. The well-delineated medium weight flavors possess an overt minerality as well as a saline character that adds a refreshing quality to the ever-so-slightly dry finish though in this case the supporting tannins are clearly riper and thus the backend is more persistent.
Chateau Simian Chateauneuf-du-Pape Grandes Grenachieres d'Hippolyte MAGNUM 2009
Special $223.20 Save 40%
Full ruby. Black raspberry, incense, potpourri and exotic spices on the intensely aromatic nose. Vibrant and precise but deeply concentrated too, offering juicy red and dark berry flavors that show liqueur-like power but an almost shockingly fresh quality as well. Finishes with gentle tannic grip and outstanding cut and persistence, leaving notes of candied red fruit and star anise behind. 93 Points
Domaine Christian Clerget Chambolle-Musigny 2012
Special $96.00 Save 40%
As is often the case this is more aromatically complex than the Morey with its layered aromas of red currant, blue berry, earth and a hint of wet stone. There is good detail and plenty of punch to the clean and racy medium-bodied flavors that terminate in an agreeably dry and mildly austere finish. This is a relatively masculine Chambolle villages. 87-89 Points
Domaine Henri and Gilles Buisson Saint Romain Sous la Velle blanc 2013
Special $46.60 Save 33%
Sous la Velle - under the village. This vineyard is directly opposite Sous Roche on the other side of the amphitheatre. This side of the valley is known for Chardonnay and Buisson's 50 year old vines are grown on the clayey soils over a marl-stone base. Vine age 60+ years.
The bunches are 50% destemmed and lightly crushed. Twelve months in French oak, 10% of which is new. Always a great drink at a low price.

Blackberry, cassis and candied flowers on the seductively perfumed nose and in the mouth. Fresh and energetic, with excellent clarity and back-end lift. Becomes spicier with air and finishes extremely long, vibrant and gently tannic, leaving suave violet pastille and spicecake notes behind. 94 Points
