Half Bottles of Vintage Port. Just the thing for a chilly evening....

When buying wine it's occasionally worth doing things by halves
There are many reasons buying half bottles of wine make sense but one reason in particular is wastage. It is a perfect size to be able to share a glass with someone rather than having to open a standard bottle and cork it after a glass for another night hoping that it won't oxidise while it waits for you.
Half-bottles of wine are an excellent thing. They allow us to open and finish a bottle of freshly opened wine without drinking to excess but also allows us to taste multiple wines during one sitting, depending on how many half bottles you may have lying around, then you would normally with standard bottles or larger.
Port is a perfect example of this. After a magnificent meal prepared by your wife/husband or very close friends opening a nice bottle of Port is a great way to say ahh...what a great night, thanks.  Opening a standard bottle or larger can go to waste as a small glass may be all you can fit. This is where half bottles are perfect.
We offer 4 Ports in 375ml bottles. They all have some bottle age and are just waiting for you to pull the cork.
All bottles have come direct from the Symington estates this year so are pristine.

Grahams Malvedos 2004 Label
For the Love of Port:
The Malvedos has really fleshed out since I first tried it in late June. Having received considerably more decanting time, (I believe I heard 5 hours mentioned) which also helped. This '04 is an inky purple monster that presented spicy and floral notes with the essence of pure blueberry. Ultra-ripe on the palate with prune and juicy blackberry flavors that come to the fore. Good depth and medium tannins show the stuffing is all there, while finishing with a long chocoholics dream of an aftertaste.

Dow Bomfin Label
For the Love of Port: One of my favorites from the Symington's stable of 2004 VPs. This dark purplish colored SQVP delivers a sexy nose and is laden with dense, ripe strawberry and raspberry fruit. The palate attack is surprisingly sweet for a Bomfim and it has more of a viscous, black fruit profile which is smooth and ultra-ripe. The tannins are prominent and showing more drying astringency than when I tried it nearly four months ago. Today it shows as a chewy, concentrated beast with a superlative layered finish. This youngster shows a solid core within which will drink best in a couple of decades or three.

Dow's Vintage Port 2000 (375ml)
Normally $103.50
Special $87.95

Dow 2000 Label For the Love of Port:
Dark reddish-purple color and full opacity. Grapes from Quinta do Bomfim were harvested in late September. Ripe plum and juicy blackberry fruit with hints of spice and cassis on the richly textured palate. The velvet glove may be missing here but certainly not the iron fist. The tannins take hold on the extremely long finish and they don't let go and yet this VP manages to show an appealing if not decadent mouthfeel. A very well constructed, full-bodied young Dow that will last for many decades. Should be right up there with the 1970 and 1977 ... and might just show them both up someday.

Gould Campbell Vintage Port 2003 (375ml)
Normally $79.25
Special $66.95

Gould Campbell Label 2
For the Love of Port:
Displaying delightful scents of plum with a smoky and roasted note. The GC offers a viscous and powerful wine with semi-sweet, blackberry and currant fruit along with a hint of vanilla and licorice. It is a boisterous, intense young Port with monstrous mouth puckering tannins and a lingering aftertaste that would be better had it not shown so much alcohol. This Vintage Port should improve for two to three decades. 2,400 cases produced.
