Puligny with a twist of citrus

Buisson Velle Header
A wonderful white Burgundy at a great price
You'd be forgiven if you didn't know where Saint-Romain is. It lies to the west of Meursault and must be one of the most beautiful villages in Burgundy.

There is a natural amphitheatre that gives rise to some quite exceptional wines. The chalky soil and high acidity make the best Saint-Romain whites reminiscent of old-style Chablis or Puligny-Montrachet. A strong mineral character is present along with a good amount of acidity making them fresh and enticing.

In a vintage like 2014 the wines of Saint-Romain really shine and the Sous la Velle blanc, from 60+ year old Chardonnay vines, is quite exceptional. It reminds me of a mineral-driven Puligny-Montrachet with a hint of enticing citrus.

Until midnight we off this wine, in both bottle and magnum, at a 15% discount. Try it, it is a terrific wine at a very reasonable price.

Buisson Sous la Velle label
Minerals, lime, grapefruit, white peach, white pepper. A touch of completing sulphides. Extremely vibrant palate, driven by wonderful acidity. Textured in the middle with more restrained white peach and a hint of exotic spices. Long, fine and classy. Puligny with a twist of citrus. Saint-Romain you ask? Try it,  a super white from a great vintage.
