Two Extraordinary Dinners. Musigny and Richebourg 1976-1929 at Circa and 116 Years of Bordeaux at Woodland House
Musigny and Richebourg - Two of Burgundy's Greatest Vineyards
Our next rare wine dinner will focus on the wines of Musigny and Richebourg. Outside the top monopoles of Vosne-Romanee these are Burgundy's finest and most valuable vineyards.
They both produce wines of enormous character, capable, or indeed requiring, long aging to reach their peak.
We have assembled a fine range of wines from 1976 back to 1929. Needless to say, the dinner includes some very rare bottles. Of particular note is the bottle of 1929 Musigny. This bottle is from the legendary private cellar of Doris Duke, sold by Christies New York in 2004. You can find numerous articles on the internet but if you click here you will find some background.
Musigny, in particular, is never easy to buy. Aged bottles are even more difficult. This is a rare opportunity to taste a lineup of aged wines that are almost never offered for sale.

116 Years of Bordeaux Dinner at Woodland House. Tuesday 28 June 2016
It is not often that wine lovers have the opportunity to taste wines over 100 years of age. This dinner, focusing on Bordeaux, features no less than three 100 Year old bottles.
Bordeaux is know for its ability to age for many decades. Great years can age for incredibly long periods. This special dinner presents an array of exceptional wines. After Champagne and White Burgundy we will taste some very special bottles. First up - a Pair of Magnums from the serious vintages of 1961 and 1953.
Then a bracket of 4 First Growths from great years of 1949, 1934 and 1928 (Mouton had not been elevated at this time). And to complete the reds a Pair of 1900's - a legendary vintage and now 116 years of age.
Following the reds we will enjoy a bottle of 1955 Chateau d'Yquem. Jancis Robinson gives it a perfect 20 out of 20!
The final wine of the night is a very rare Port from 1880. The 1880 Maria Amelia Pererira Logues Velhissimo Fino do Douro Colheita Port is a single vintage cask aged port and promises to be something memorable to finish.
This dinner will in the lovely Riedel Room at Woodland House. Only 12 seats available including myself.
