A not-to-be-missed treat for lovers of Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Malconsorts
Hurry, not much left!
Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Malconsorts, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses and Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St-Jacques are three of Burgundy's most desirable Premier Cru vineyards. All three are brilliantly located and produce wines that are almost always of Grand Cru quality.
Les Malconsorts is located alongside La Tache and less than 400 metres from Romanee-Conti so it comes as no surprise that this land produces wine of exceptional character. Jasper Morris MW says "Aux Malconsorts was first taken out of scrubland and planted with vines in 1610, relatively late for this part of the Cote. Nonetheless it is an exceptional vineyard, one of my three favourite premier crus along with Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses and Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St-Jacques."

Remoriquet Malconsorts Label Today I am delighted to offer the Malconsorts from Domaine Remoriquet. Their holding is in the higher part of the vineyard, hence the name Au Dessus des Malconsorts. Jasper Morris says "The serious, intense Gilles Remoriquet makes a fine range of wines...that require time in bottle to overcome their initial tannins." is also a fan of the Remoriquet wines describing his Malconsorts such " The nose is wide, complex and interesting - slowly adding weight, scent-even with time. I suppose I will have to say it - "classic Vosne flavours" - a spicy complexity, its fresh flavour being its final calling-card. This is rather lovely.

Burghound considers Malconsorts the longest lived of the Vosne 1er Crus and these wines are no exception. These are wines for the cellar!
This is a great opportunity to secure two vintages of the hard-to-find Malconsorts at very appealing prices. We offer our usual 15% Pre Arrival Price for single bottles. This increases to 20% for unbroken case purchases!
Be quick, quantities are limited. You will never find Malconsorts at this price again! Sorry, no tasting notes from the English-speaking critics. You'll have to trust me.
The wines are incredible value!

Musings from Burgundy

I have spent the last week in Burgundy tasting, tasting, tasting. Somewhere around 800 wines I think!

Most of the wines have been from the 2014 vintage and I can report that there are many exceptional wines.

2014 Chablis. The 2014 vintage is being extremely highly praised. I tasted a couple of hundred 2014's on Monday and I can see what the hype is all about. If you love classic, mineral, acid Chablis these are a must. Not everyone succeeded but there are a lot of wonderful wines. We don't have much at the moment but I was so impressed I will be adding a 2 or 3 makers to our portfolio. To view what is currently on offer click here.

2014 White Burgundy. Some are calling it the vintage of a lifetime. I can tell you that the best wines are truly exceptional. Very pure and driven with wonderful acidity. Many domaines have sold out or allocated most of their production. If you love White Burgundy jump in. What we have left is not large and will not last. A few new wines to come but not a lot! Click here for current availability. Don't miss out!

2014 Red Burgundy. The critics have ensured that the 2014 reds have been overshadowed by the whites. However, they really are extremely good. They are not huge and tannic. The wines are deeply coloured and are very transparent with the terroir singing. They are quite pleasant in this early phase but need more time to blossom. I really like the vintage and have found some exciting new red producers to add to our portfolio. More later. This is what is currently available. You won't be disappointed.
