As each vintage comes and goes the reputation of Domaine Castagnier continues to rise. Today, he is on the radar of all major reviewers. Tim Atkin MW has Castagnier in his top 25 Domaines to Watch.
You have probably heard me say that Jerome is perhaps a little disorganized . However, the fruit his vineyards makes for some very fine wines of a quality that his father could only have dreamed.
Today, we present the 2013's including a good (but declining rapidly) parcel of the very popular, yet amazingly affordable, Grand Crus. Why the 2013's after the 2014's. Well, I did hint at disorganization above, so we'll just leave it at that.
Quantities are still quite small and some wines are already well on the way to selling out of the Grand Crus. Whilst Castagnier does not receive much attention from the English-speaking press his wines are extremely well reviewed by the French Guide Hachette des Vins, frequently a much better indication of who is on the rise.
If you would like to secure a range of the 2013 Castagnier wines please get your order in quickly. All wines are offered at a 15% Pre Arrival Discount. First-in, first-served. The wines remain extremely good value considering the demand for quality Burgundy and the weak Australian Dollar. Where else can you buy Grand Crus from the Cote de Nuits at just over $200 a bottle?
