There is no doubt Magnums are the best format for cellaring wine.  The proportion of exposed wine to unexposed wine decreases exponentially as the bottle size increases which means that larger bottles (like Magnums) have less exposure to the effects of oxygen. The aging process of wine in a Magnum takes around 1.5 times longer than in a 750ml bottle.

We have 98 different Magnums available at the moment. Most are from Burgundy but we also have Bordeaux back to the 1950's, Rhones and Monbazillac.

Gevrey Grand Cru Dinner Header

A journey through the GRAND CRU vineyards of Gevrey-Chambertin.
Gevrey-Chambertin boasts nine Grand Crus, all of which are Red only. The vineyards are almost evenly spread on either side of the Route des Grand Crus at between 260 and 300 metres above sea level.
As is the case right through Burgundy each vineyard has its own style and character and this dinner aims to unravel the differences and similarities between the complete array of nine Grand Crus.
Once again we have assembled a selection of wines all with some bottle age from nine different and respected producers. And the vintages selected are certainly serious.
The dinner presents a great opportunity to taste some very highly regarded wines and compare them to their peers. We will provide tasting and vineyard information to help explain just why these wines, frequently located next door to each other, can taste so different.
With the range of vintages being served the dinner will also show how the Grand Crus of Gevrey-Chambertin develop over the time. It is a terrific opportunity to learn more about this commune of Burgundy.
